This podcast is for the former athlete, current athlete, now pro, former pro. If you played at a high level you deserve to be recognized. We often throw out the percentages of players who get a chance to play collegiately or even professionally. Lesser times do we look into those who don't make it, those who lost love for the game, those with devastating injuries, those with outside and societal f

actors that don't allow them to just be athletes anymore, and the psychological effects this has on us and especially us black men. This is our first career failure in our adult lives oftentimes and being around it all the time you can see the effect it has on young minds and I believe that is worth some support and a deeper look. This podcast allows you to brag about yourself while also discussing everything from culture, music, to sports, and reminisce in a healthy way. So often we see jokes that float talking about men who are older all saying "they could have played professionally had it not been for a knee injury" or something of that nature. As I have gotten older I actually have found that there are a lot of people where that is actually their reality and what is jokes for some is a harsh reminder to others but they are put down instead of celebrated. That is why this is to talk about the life outside of sports as well as provide support and resources for whatever career pursuits and passions they plan to undertake after sports. Sports have been a refuge, family, and community for so many people and it is about time to start giving back when they can no longer entertain and play for the crowds and fans.

Dre Jackson has adapted to everywhere he has played, from his redshirt situation to his efficient start at Palm Beach Atlantic University to his now takeover of overseas basketball in Irelands Super League. We talk everything from agents, his participation in TMacs OBL league, to contracts to the definition of the term "pro" as well as sports gambling and what it means for athletes as well as the public perception specifically in the NBA. This first video is from a recent game at the Barstool national invitational with FAU vs Loyola Chicago and while this may seem harmless athletes have already battled narratives of being unintelligent and lazy and not being able to have opinions on things other than sports and with this new age of sports gambling we are seeing way more scrutiny and closeted racism than there needs to be, athletes can critics from a place of understanding and mutual respect but it seems like much more for others. Understanding import rules of your league is SO IMPORTANT when deciding where you will play next and what contract to sign, Essentially, teams can’t sign the 12 best players money can buy. They can only sign the 12 best players who fit within the classifications of imports and nationals in that particular region/country. In Dre’s league the two imports could not share the court together so imagine only being able to stagger your two best players! Episode out Sunday!

One of the many things overseas basketball does it allows you to think of your life outside of the sport, it may be due to the uncertainty or sometimes long off season or even the nature of the travel but like everything else athletes are looking for ways create a life for themselves when they can no longer play at a certain level. Basketball leagues overseas have restrictions on the amount of import players allowed on each team. The import player definition varies depending on the league but it typically means a player with a passport outside of the country. An example is an American playing in China or Europe. Some Leagues allow multiple import players, more than two, and others only allow one because of financial or budget restriction. All imports come with an expectation! Episode out Sunday!

Understanding who holds the power is key to wrapping your head around overseas basketball, where as we see in the NBA the players have the power and there is oversight from the owners, management, NBPA etc well in overseas basketball depending on who you are this may change but most players do not hold all the cards and instead the President, owner etc quite literally holds your future sometimes in his hands. Agents and professional basketball is like the ugly step child that isn’t talked about, people will be glad to tell you about their mistakes and growing pains in finding one but there is no good guidance on how to vet or find a good one.
