Seven songs. One week. A ridiculous amount of underground metal.

This week’s Seven Deadly Songs digs into new releases from Domino Drive, Embers of Dawn, Exile of Heaven, Game Over, Hav Norn, Remote Viewing and The Forest Forgets, with plenty more buried throughout the feature.

Thrash, industrial, power metal, sludge, melodic death, hard rock and some genuinely strange atmospheric stuff all made the cut.

What’s the best new metal track you heard this week?

Ten years ago today, Heaven Shall Burn released Wanderer.

The album paired the band’s crushing melodic death metal and metalcore attack with one of the most striking covers in their catalog: Iceland’s Kirkjufell, chosen for its massive, immovable presence.

A decade later, Wanderer still feels like one of those records built for motion and endurance, heavy without losing atmosphere, and unmistakably Heaven Shall Burn.

There are albums that create atmosphere, and then there are albums that seem to alter the dimensions of the room around you.

Primordial Black’s Heterotopia does the latter.

The Tunisian project pushes blackened death metal into a strange collision of dissonance, industrial textures, ritual ambience and cinematic horror, with guest appearances including legendary bassist Steve DiGiorgio.

This one feels less like an album and more like walking into a psychological labyrinth where somebody quietly moved the exit.
