We send our condolences to all who are grieving this incredible loss. Fly high fine Lady.
Her family did a beautiful post about her if you want to read it. N2 Cat Crew
Yesterday we lost another legend, Kona the Awesome.
It’s amazing how close we can get to people (and their cats) online. Sometimes they end up feeling even closer than our actual family. I’ve known N2 Cat Crew for almost 12 years now and we’ve been through a lot together. I owe a lot to the creator, Versa BC. Without him, The Oreo Cat likely wouldn’t exist today. Not only did he come up with the name “The Oreo Cat” but he’s also the reason I started on this journey.
When Oreo first came into my life, I didn’t know anything about social media. I was an artist with an art blog. I illustrated kids books and made pet portraits. I had a small page for my artwork and an even smaller page where I posted pictures of Oreo for my nephews. They wanted to see him grow up and one of them was real allergic to cats. So the page was a good way of posting collected photos for everyone to see. One of N2’s fans ordered a pet portrait from me and posted it on Twitter (now X). N2 saw the portrait and tweeted “you should totally do my album cover”. To which I replied “OMG! YES!” That’s how our relationship began.
N2 had a huge YouTube channel “N2 The Talking Cat” (now N2 Cat Crew) and they posted all kinds of viral videos and funny parodies starring none other than Kona and N2. I was a huge fan, of course. I got the opportunity to work with Versa to create his album cover as well as all kinds of other artworks he used on merch.
Once we began talking, he asked if I had cats and I said yes of course! I showed him a picture of Oreo and he asked if he could share it on his page. Well the next day, I woke up to thousands of followers. I had no clue what I was supposed to do next and Versa told me “now you have to keep posting”. Well, that’s what I did. Flash forward years later and here we are.
I have never met anyone with such a pure heart of gold. I am so grateful to have met Versa and his wife and I feel lucky to be able to continue to call them good friends. As you can imagine, the loss of Kona hurts my heart a lot. Many of you who follow both of us know that we always joked about her being Oreo’s wife. Although I am glad Kona is no longer in pain, it’s still sad to see her go. Cancer sucks.
Kona, where you are, gucci bags and cinna-buns are only $1 and Oreo will get you as many as your heart desires. 🌈
You will be dearly missed,
With Fluff,
Tina, Onyx, Pudding and Olive 💚🕊️
