King William County will end up spending more than $1 million this year on its new library system, more than $400,000 above its annual fee to the regional system the Board of Supervisors ditched to save taxpayer dollars.

The Board of Supervisors agreed to take additional money from capital funds when it awarded a contractor $480,000-plus to convert county offices into a library for Upper King William on Aug. 25.

King William resident Justin Spurlock’s 13th car show on Saturday raised money for 7-year-old Marley Dailey, of Suffolk, who was in need of a wheelchair-accessible van to get around.

All proceeds from the car, truck and bike show at King William High School went toward a wheelchair-accessible van for 7-year-old Marley and his family.
