CREW SPOTLIGHT: is a naturally curious person. He loves learning about new people, new technology, and especially the “why” behind how things work. It’s that deep understanding of both technical and social mechanics that make him invaluable on set. A self-described autodidact, he is the most versatile production tech we’ve ever worked with - He can run camera, mix audio, shape light, decorate sets, conduct interviews, take BTS photos, perform stylized edits, and positively interact with clients. He could probably even do Hair & Make-up in a pinch! He’s someone who we can trust to execute a technically flawless setup after simply hearing the project’s goals.

Jayson is a founding member of Weatherlight, and he puts everything he has into the work he does. Recently, that’s manifested into a career in music recording and production. He and his fiancè Kailee form and run the Habitat Studio. When we’re lucky enough for Jayson to have a break in his schedule, he will join us on set and is happy to fill in wherever there’s a need.

Jasyon pays close attention to industry changes and advances in production technology. He always has a new amazing camera, audio device, software plugin or video game console he wants to share. His enthusiasm for new gear is rivaled only by the nostalgia he feels for Legend of Zelda, Final Fantasy, or Lord of the Rings. His sense of humor is work class, he has a great eye for design, and he might be the most talented person we know. And most of all, just a good hang.

CREW SPOTLIGHT: You wouldn’t guess it from these photos, but our editor Leo Artajo spends most of his time behind the computer screen.

Leo was the first official employee at Weatherlight, joining when we opened in January 2022. He’s had his hand in nearly every video we’ve produced - from broadcast commercials, social media reels, corporate documentaries, reality TV shows, branded animated bumpers, and comedy sketches. He is a well versed storyteller with an understanding of rhythm and pacing, and knows just the right way to balance information with emotion. If you seen any or our content, you’ve seen Leo’s work.

Before Weatherlight, Leo was editing TV news stories and wrestling promos with high energy motion graphics, and he has since learned a lot more about 3D animation & VFX. He was an acclaimed stand-up comedian in Oklahoma where he developed skills that would earn him a role in our sketch comedy series we produced for . With such a well-rounded skillset and sharp sense of humor, Leo is easily the most valuable member of the team. We try to not hold it against him that he’s never seen Lord of the Rings.

A true artist, Leo is also a painter and creates gaming content on his channel .

CREW SPOTLIGHT: Nicole Sepulveda-Smith is going to hate us for this post; She’s the type of photographer that prefers to stay behind the camera, but we say she’s too good to stay hidden!

Nicole could teach a masterclass about doing a lot with a little, and will admit she feels spoiled when she gets to work with our continuous LED video lights. She spends most weekends shooting weddings, family portrait sessions, actor & model headshots, international film festivals, and her favorite, concerts. Luckily, that means she’s flexible on weekdays when we need corporate photos for creative campaigns and production BTS.

Nicole has a unique cheekiness to her that we’ve never seen in another person. The best way to describe it is “Charmingly Sassy.” She has this innate ability to quickly get the best poses from people who usually suffer from “What do I do with my hands” paralysis. She can command a large room just as well as an individual or small group, and she is quick to assist with video equipment setup. Her light-hearted jabs are always welcome on set, and even more deserved when she brings a large multimedia project through our door. She has an eye not just for a great shot, but for the bigger picture, which makes her a great collaborator and huge asset.

Nicole will say her goal is for every shot to tell a full story, and if you browse her channel you’ll see what she means. Her work is great enough to have been featured in globally published magazines including Vogue and Vanity Fair, and we’re spoiled to have her on the team.

CREW SPOTLIGHT: Jason Elam made a big impression when he moved to Sacramento from Dayton, Ohio in 2023. As quickly as he changed his social media handle to , he also became one of our go-to cinematographers and all around production pro.

Besides being able to produce a sharp image, he has an even sharper understanding of the production process. He pays attention on set and makes a noticeable contribution without overstating it. He’s keen to move around lights, hold a reflector, work with talent, assist with props, and spend extra time to help with the permitting process when the film office is being picky. He’s a certified drone pilot, and he knows exactly when to make the right Star Wars joke. It’s our goal to fill up his calendar, and pray he isn’t already booked when the right job comes along because with Jason on set, stress levels go down. He’s reliable as he is talented, and we’re lucky to have him in Sac.

Also have to mention that he’s a new father and plays in a kickass band . Go check Jason out and marvel at his work!
