As a Presentation Skills and Media/Video Coach with Workshops and One on One Sessions, she helps executives, professionals, speakers and entrepreneurs to build confidence and enhance their strengths to succeed to their fullest potential in front of a group of clients, a video camera, a microphone or a live audience. Communications Skills (Body Language/Voice), Customer Service (Body Language, Rela
tionships, Message, Culture) and Video Coaching (Confidence/Presence) are her main areas of expertise. She is the most recognizable Hispanic face in Tampa Bay. She brings to the table her experience of more than 20 years as a reporter, main anchor (11 years as the News Anchor at Univision Tampa), producer and news director in networks such as CBS Telenoticias, Univision, Caracol, RCN and 24 Horas. Currently, she hosts a TV segment called Positive Attitude (Actitud Positiva) in CNN Latino. Pilar was named Woman of the Year in the Media in 2000 (Tampa Hispanic Heritage) and she was recognized with the most important award in colombian journalism: Premio Nacional de Periodismo Simón Bolívar (1994). She writes a weekly column in 7 DIAS, a well known Spanish Newspaper in the Tampa Bay area. She just published her first book (currently available in Spanish and soon to be release in English): “Camino al Exito: Todos arrancamos aquí” – “On the way to success: Everybody starts somewhere”. This book is about overcoming obstacles and making smart decisions even when everything seems to look against us. She started writing it when she the Univision Tampa news operation was reduced to almost zero and she was laid off from her job as an anchor for 11 years at Univision (2009’ crisis). Pilar is a professional member of NSA (National Speakers Association – www.nsacentral florida.com ) and has helped even professional speakers to be their best in front of the camera or in any media interview. She serves on the membership committee in the NSA-CF Board. She is also very involved in two causes very close to her heart: Alzheimer’s awareness among latinos (helping the community to take better care not only of the patient but of the caregiver/son or daughter at home) and a mentorship program for latino women. She is currently the President of the Professional Hispanic Women’s Association in Tampa Bay (www.hpwatampa.org). As a TV talent she has been the face and/or the voice for many corporate campaigns that need to reach Spanish speakers among their organizations or even around the world. Her neutral accent in Spanish is a favorite for agencies and clients. “Hablo Español for you” is basically a service and an opportunity for a company, author or entrepreneur to reach a diverse community having Pilar as their image or voice. Pilar knows not only the roots and the culture but also the differences between the countries, the language (even though they all speak Spanish) and their preferences (sports, art, folklore, etc –very different is someone is from Mexico or from Cuba or Puerto Rico for example).
