No. 5 Doddridge County saw its high school football season come to an end Friday in a 28-7 loss to No. 1 Frankfort in the semifinal round of the Class AA playoffs at Frankfort Stadium.
Despite a Bulldogs' defense effort that held the Falcons to 83 yards in the second half, Frankfort made the most of it scoring opportunities to escape with the win.
DCHS lost the services of Caleb Hall in the first quarter and Brysen Dixon one play into the second half and the offense never found its rhythm again.
Dixon threw for 91 yards and a touchdown.
Landon Thomas became Doddridge County's all-time receiving yardage leader, catching four passes of 55 yards.
Frankfort awaits the winner of Saturday's No. 2 Bluefield-No. 3 Philip Barbour matchup in the Class AA title game next Saturday in Charleston.
