After spotting Braxton County to a 7-0 lead when they returned the opening kickoff 78 yards for a score, Doddridge County cut loose for 45 straight points to grab a 45-15 victory Friday at Cline Stansberry Stadium.
Brysen Dixon threw for 199 yards and five touchdowns for the Bulldogs, Brycen Eidel had a 19-yard TD reception and a 45-yard TD run, Jerod Trent pulled in a 35-yard TD catch, Josh Dehaven had TD catches 10 and 20 yards, Landon Thomas accounted for a 25-yard TD reception and Brandon Davis tacked on a 9-yard TD run and three PAT kicks.
The DCHS defense was lights out. Braxton gained 68 yards rushing on its final drive against the JV to take them from negative 7 yards rushing for the contest to 58 yards rushing and 82 total yards with just 4 first downs.

Quite an accomplishment!
In just the fourth year of having a golf program and their first trip to the state championships in a season they moved up from Class A to Class AA, Doddridge County takes third place as a team and senior Caleb Sutton places fifth individually.

With Round 1 completed this morning in the Class AA field at the state high school golf tournament, Doddridge County's Caleb Sutton sits atop the leaderboard beginning the final round with a 9-over par, 80.
The Bulldogs sit tied for second with Petersburg in the team standings at 262 strokes, one stroke behind Midland Trail.
Trayton Hall finishes the first round with an 18-over, 89, and Jerod Trent closed at 38-over, 109.
Cooper Hall finished his first round Tuesday with a 22-over, 93.

Day 1 of the state high school golf championships is in the books at Oglebay Resort's Speidel Golf Club.
Doddridge County currently tops the Class AA field, but the Bulldogs, Wyoming East, Frankfort and Sissonville still have golfers on the course that were unable to complete the first round before darkness halted play for the day.
Doddridge County holds a six-stroke advantage over Midland Trail and is up seven strokes on Petersburg with Caleb Sutton (hole No. 16), Trayton Hall (Hole No. 17) and Jerod Trent (hole No. 17) returning to the course at 7:30 a.m. to complete the opening round.
Cooper Hall is in the clubhouse with a 22-over par, 93.
Caleb Sutton begins Wednesday with a three-stroke lead in the individual standings over Wyoming East's Talan Muscari. Both have completed 15 holes of golf.
The final round will begin shortly after the completion of the first round for Class AA and Class A.

Brysen Dixon throws for 224 yards and four touchdowns and Class AA No. 4 Doddridge County cruises to a 34-8 victory over No. 13 South Harrison Friday at Cline Stansberry Stadium.
The Bulldogs' defense held the Hawks to 150 yards and one scoring drive with 1:14 left in the contest as they moved to 6-0 on the season.
DCHS rolled up 392 yards of offense with Jerod Trent pulled in three of Dixon's tosses for 144 yards and two TDs and Lyric Blake adding an 18-yard TD catch and running for 99 yards and a TD on 15 carries.

In just the fourth year of the golf program, Doddridge County is sending its team to Oglebay Resort's Spiedel Golf Course next Tuesday and Wednesday to compete for a state title in Class AA. The Bulldogs totaled 242 strokes Monday to finish as the runner-up to Wheeling Central, who completed the course at the Moundsville Country Club in 237 strokes to claim the Region I title.
Caleb Sutton paced the DCHS effort with a 7-over par, 77, placing second individually, while Trayton Hall grabbed eighth with a round of 11-over, 81, and Jerod Trent secured 12th with a 14-over, 84. Cooper Hall completed the Bulldogs' squad with a 18-over 88 in 15th.
Individual golfers advancing as well were low medalist Evan Kaczmarek of Weir with a 5-over, 75, and Williamstown's Madilyn Buttrey, who advanced after with an 8-over 78, after winning a two-hole sudden death playoff over Tyler Consolidated's John Mace.
