The final season. To see the work that Michael Barta, the coaching staff, and the players have put into this program make it one of the most successful in state history. 11 state tournament appearances, 7 state championship games, and 5 state titles is truly remarkable.

The final day of the 2025 track season finished with a fantastic finish by Olivia Fehn, winning the 800 meter run in class 4A with a time of 2:12.03. The boys followed up in the 800 sprint medley with a 2nd place finish and a new Iowa all-time 3rd best time of 1:30.29 (King, Barkue, Beachem, Anglo). Vincent Peterson finished 5th in the 200 meter race with a time of 22.06 followed by the 100 meter race with a 7th place finish (11.13). Marissa Pewe finishes 11th in the 800m run with a time of 2:15.89. Alyx Woodley finishes 9th in the 1500m race with a time of 4:39 in addition to Ele Wharton finishing 12th with a time of 4:43.
The boys 4x100 finals finished 5th with a time of 41.85 (Townsend, Barkue, Beachem, Peterson) followed by placing 4th in the 4x400 finals with a time of 3:15.53 (Grandon, King, Urness, Anglo).
Tay Ohr-Rottler (21st) and Jack Crossland (23rd) both placed in the 1600m run with a time of 4:21.71 and 4:21.73.
Last, boys team was honored today with the presentation of the Drake Relays Cup (past recipients in 2022 and 2023).

It was a great second day of state track. First, Jaida Bell sets the school record and places 2nd in long jump with a pr of 19’3.75”. The boys 4x100 prelims qualifies for finals in 2nd with a new school record of 41.47 (Townsend, Barkue, Beachem, Peterson). The boys 4x200 places 3rd with a new school record of 1:26.79 (Peterson, Beachem, Barkue, King). Boys 1600 medley relay scores in 6th place with a time of 3:28.56 (Cason, Russell, Grandon, Anglo).
Boys 4x400 qualifies for finals in 6th with a time of 3:18.29.
Emma Gray finishes 11th in the shot put with a throw of 37’7.75”.
Girls finish 11th in the 1600 medley with a time of 4:12.20 (C Shaw, L Shaw, Fitzgerald, Woodley).
Girls 4x200 places 20th with a time of 1:44.55 (Johannes, Petek, L Shaw, C Shaw).
Cael Brown finished 13th in long jump with 20’10.75”.
Sadie Nicol places 23rd in long jump with 15’7.25”.
All finals in open 100, 200, 4x100, 4x400 will take place on Saturday (day 3). Vince Peterson will run the 100m and 200m final. We start the day with the 800 sprint medley relay.

What a great first day at the state track meet. Jashua Anglo wins the 4A 400m meter with a time of 47.60! Vincent Peterson qualifies for the 100m and 200m finals with qualifying times of 10.79 and 21.94. The 4x800 meter relay places 8th with a time of 7:53 (Ness, Ohr-Rottler, Shug, Reese). Shuttle Hurdle relay finishes in 12th with a time of 1:01.46 (Meester, Reinders, Hoppenworth, Sheer). Crossland finishes the 3200m with a time of 9:31 (16th). Nathan Kjng places 14th with a time of 22.18. Deangelo Barkue places 18th in the 100m with a time of 11.06. More to follow tomorrow for day 2.
