My my, this was a fun way to kick off a Monday morning: I got to reconnect and interview Jenepher for the book project, after about 20 years or so of losing track of this gem! Some of you may remember her from her fab gallery in Portland, Foundry Lane.

20 Years ago a budding editorial assistant and aspiring illustrator, got the chance of a lifetime to illustrate a book for an international craft audience. That lucky lady was me!

Pun intended, this book beautifully illustrates one of the significant things Tim did (and continues to do) at Brynmorgen Press, which was to introduce young voices to the field and give them a platform upon which to share their expertise. That vision extended to other artists, such as myself, who had the distinct honor of illustrating Japanese Patinas by Eitoku Sugimori.

This generosity of spirit is felt far and wide and all of you who’ve been the beneficiary of this know what I’m talking about! Thanks Tim for this amazing opportunity.

The book project continues and more voices are emerging from the past! I had the pleasure and privilege to interview jeweler, Maria Wolff today at Coffee By Design right in front of Tim’s son’s epic mosaic of coffee farmers.

In case you didn’t know, Tim writes beautifully about the nature of objects and their place in our lives. Listen to a tidbit of Tim’s perspective from his book, The Syntax of Objects.

This necklace Tim made presented a bit of a challenge to photograph, and then I put it down on the glass and voila! It’s quite evocative, don’t you think?
