A clipper system will bring accumulating snow to southern New England from tonight into Saturday morning. The highest confidence for impactful snowfall is across central and western Connecticut and western Massachusetts, where 3–5 inches are expected with localized totals up to 6-8 inches. Rhode Island and central to eastern Massachusetts will see lighter snowfall, generally 2-4 inches. Winter weather headlines are in effect in portions of the region, and slick travel is possible Friday night into early Saturday. Forecast confidence is moderate due to a narrow snowfall gradient, where small changes in storm track could result in notable differences in snow totals. Looking ahead, another system may bring a threat of freezing rain late Sunday night into early Monday, mainly across interior southern New England.

Well the rain snow line has been stubborn and hasn’t really advanced as far as originally thought. It’s starting to creep into eastern Hampden county with some mixed precipitation but it’s holding there for now. Let us know if and when you see a change in precipitation (sleet, rain, freezing rain).
