50th anniversary. RIP guys!

EDMUND FITZGERALD | November 9th, 1975 at 10 pm. A "Bomb Cyclone" is rapidly developing, barreling directly toward Lake Superior. Weather conditions on Superior begin to rapidly deteriorate. The storm system is crossing central Wisconsin with explosive strengthening at a rate meteorologist call "Bomb Cyclogenesis" for how quickly the pressure drops.

Barometric pressure measured at Soo confirms this data, dropping an astounding 28 mb in 18 hours from 8:30 pm on the 9th to 2:30 pm on the 10th of November. Many recall this was one of the worst seas and storms they could recall.

The Fitzgerald and the Anderson are still taking on a direct northeast wind and have proceeded with a more northerly route. The hope was for some protection from the wind from the Canadian coastline and Isle Royale. Eventually, they'd have to turn south into the teeth of the storm.
