The City of Lake Charles was recently awarded the 2026 National Information Officers Association (NIOA) Best Use of Video Award for its City Shift: ONE Lake Charles at Work video series.
Launched in September 2025, the monthly series goes beyond traditional government communications to give residents an authentic, behind-the-scenes look at the people, departments and services that keep Lake Charles moving. Each episode takes the City’s Public Information Officer into the field to experience the work firsthand—from riding along with first responders to working alongside crews and participating in specialized training—creating stories that inform the public while recognizing the employees who make those services possible. The series has received enthusiastic feedback from residents, who regularly share how much they learn and often ask for longer episodes.
The NIOA award recognizes the City’s innovative approach to using video to make local government more accessible, strengthen public understanding and bring the ONE Lake Charles vision to life.
