By far one of my worst bookish habits is buying a book I’m super excited to get and bringing it home and thennnnnn reading something else from the library. 🙈 The library books have a ticking clock! They inspire my ADHD brain! The physical book I just purchased, however, can stay happily on my shelf indefinitely, and that does nothing to my ADHD brain except enable me to forget it exists. 🫠

I think my love of stories that devastate me started with Bridge to Terabithia. Then for a period in late elementary school I got really into these books by Lurlene McDaniel (I think that was her name?) where every title was something like “Don’t Die, My Love” and the kids in them were all dealing with mortality in some way or another.

What was the last book you read that traumatized you (complimentary)?

I don’t know that I’ve mentioned this before, but Facebook inexplicably thinks I’m a “dog creator” — as in I create content about dogs? The only sense I can find in that is the occasional reference to Cerberus and similar, but who knows for sure.

Facebook also likes to give pages random “challenges” that they will reward you for in one way or another (and I suspect punish you if you do not participate), and they’re almost always reels-based which is just not my thing. However, the latest challenge I’ve been served is to create three lifestyle posts, and they’ve included “hobbies” as one option, so since I should probably make some effort to appease the overlords from time to time and since I may actually be able to use this challenge to get them to see this page’s “hobby” is bookish fare and not puppycare, I’ve decided to offer up these next three posts in service of that goal.
