Camera Operator
Browning Productions & Entertainment, Inc (BP&E) is looking for a talented and versatile Camera Operator to join its expanding in-house production team.
We are seeking a strong, experienced Operator for a in-house position filming many of our nationally distributed television series.
Responsibilities
The Camera Operator should be proficient in the use of multiple UHD digital cameras, but most importantly RED Cameras, as well as, the following camera skill sets, Hand Held, Gimbal, Dana Dolly, Jibs, Drones, Tripod, Sliders, etc… The Camera Operator should know all of its electronic features, such as safe settings on the viewfinder, image controls (brightness, contrast, etc.), intercom and filter settings. The candidate should also be proficient in performing various pedestal moves, including dolly, truck and boom. They should possess basic knowledge of camera functions, such as zoom, focus, pan, and tilt as well as familiarity with lens functions (i.e. back focus and the location/use of macro).
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Ensure equipment related to the day’s assignment is in working order such as studio camera, ENG camera, light kits, microphones, media, etc.
• Follow Show Director’s commands and react appropriately on set with scenarios when unscripted situations develop.
• Work within our Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) guidelines when it comes to safety in the workplace.
• Follow daily protocols when it comes to punctuality, timesheets, and responsibilities.
• Cross train in other technical production areas to broaden skill set. Any training must be discussed with the Head of Operations prior to doing so to ensure proper communication and planning.
• Work and foster a team environment and help out in all areas of Technical Production.
• Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications/Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Television Production, or related and 2+ years of experience in a television production environment, or an equivalent experience.
• Must have at least 5 years Camera experience.
• Strong knowledge and understanding of broadcast and production technology.
• Ability to multi-task in a live and fluid environment.
• Exhibit the interpersonal skills required to effectively communicate across all levels of the organization within various departments.
• Basic computer skills and familiarity with Mac iOS and editing softwares like Adobe Premiere.
• Must be available to work all shifts, including early mornings, evenings, holidays, weekends, late breaking news and hurricane emergencies.
• Must be willing to facilitate personnel requirements including late and/or last minute scheduling changes in a 24/7 production work environment.
• Must be willing to travel, sometimes on short notice. Must be able to travel internationally.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, bend, squat, frequent standing.
Desired Characteristics
• ENG/EFP experience and knowledge to include camera, lighting & audio.
• Fluency in English and Spanish is a plus.
