Despite my best efforts to communicate the fogging problem to the NFHS Network, they were of little help resolving any issues. We have ran a few tests (in an empty fieldhouse I might add) and there was no fogging. Does this mean the problem is solved? Perhaps, but no promises. If the issue occurs again, please send me more screenshots and pictures to send to the NFHS Network. Thank you, and we apologize in advance for any issues that may occur this evening.

Onward Pirates!

Tonight is Veterans Night along with the annual Community Cookout, so we encourage you to come out and get there early to enjoy the festivities of both events. If you can't make it, tune in early for the pre-game show followed up by the ceremony of Veterans Night. We will be running the stream manually with a student crew, so hopefully everything will run smoothly compared to recent broadcasts on the Pixellot.

Good luck, boys! Onward Pirates!!

In case you missed it, we experienced a strange hiccup with our fieldhouse camera last night during the volleyball game. The broadcast started off with the left half of the camera being blurry. By the end of the game, both lenses were fogged up to the point that our viewers couldn't see what was happening on the court. I appreciate everyone who reached out to report the issue.

As for why it happened... I'm honestly not sure. My theory is that the camera's temperature control system may have failed. The Pixellots were installed with temperature sensors that kick on fans when the camera gets too hot. This would keep condensation from building up inside the lenses like what we saw last night. Both lenses were clear when I inspected the camera earlier this week, but I did find a different issue... the power outlet that the camera system is plugged into didn't have power connected to it. That means that our camera's CPU was likely powered off all summer. The fieldhouse camera is protected from weather more than the camera at the football field, but it can still get humid in the fieldhouse over the summer, which can cause the camera to malfunction if the cooling system isn't working properly. This is likely what caused the failure if my theory is correct.

So what has to be done to fix it? It will likely require a technician from the NFHS to service the faulty camera. The condensation is forming inside of the lenses, so that means that it's not as easy as getting up there and wiping it off. I have already contacted the NFHS support staff (you know how that goes) and I will keep you all posted on what I hear back from them. Hopefully we can get a technician out to the school to maintenance the camera within the next week or two.

I take the blame for this problem. Our cameras are over 5 years old, and having a professional technician come out and inspect both cameras is probably something I should arrange every couple of years at the minimum. I am hopeful we can get this fixed before the next home game on September 17th.

Thank you all for your continued patience. Onward Pirates!!

Alright folks, here's the deal... Nate has been working with Mr. Forton and Mr. Miller all morning to iron out a few last minute technical issues having to do with getting the camera online. As long as we can get the camera online and calibrated, we should be good to go. That unfortunately can't happen until at least 5 o'clock this evening, so there is an increased likelihood that the broadcast may be delayed if we can even get it on-the-air. Please be patient, and we will have the broadcast up and running as soon as possible.

We appreciate Nate, Mr. Forton, and Mr. Miller for their outstanding efforts to fix the problem.

Onward Pirates!!

With the 2024-2025 broadcasting season officially behind us, we'd like to take a moment to give some appreciation and highlight some big moments from the season.

First of all, we'd like to thank our student-crew for the hard work they gave us to make another fantastic season happen! Our six superstar students have been delightful to work with this season and I look forward to teaming up with many of them again next year! We'd especially like to thank our lone senior Mr. Brandt Beech for all of the work that he put in both on-air and behind-the-scenes over his five years with Pirate Pride Productions! Thank you Beechie, and best of luck at Central Michigan!

Another big factor in making a broadcasting season happen is funding. We'd like to take one final opportunity to thank our sponsors for the 2024-2025 season...

Albin Hengesbach Carpentry & Custom Cabinets
Expert Tax Solutions
Good Vibe Adult Foster Care
Heckman Skullworks
Huckleberry Creek Golf Course
The Little Flower Market
MPC Cash-way Lumber
PFCU Credit Union
Pirates Pub
Pohl Propane
Portland Party Store
Premium Electric
Pung Foundation
Schneider Concrete
Tavern 1836
Wirth and Fedewa Incorporated

Additionally, we'd like to thank our two partners for the 2024-2025 season. We appreciate Harlee Pohl from HP Designs & Photography for designing the new and improved logos that were used on our broadcasts and merchandise during this past season. Also, we'd like to thank Nathan Buckley with Nathan Buckley Sportscasting for providing video elements to use in our broadcasts, including our sponsorship video. We'd also like to extend our appreciation to Mr. Jesse Thelen with JT5 Media for designing the 3P banners that can be found in the fieldhouse and football stadium.

Next, we'd like to thank those who made the broadcasting season possible from P-W Schools, including Mrs. Goodman, Mr. Portenga, Mr. Miller, and many others. We especially appreciate Mr. Troy Forton and his crew of volunteers that help out within the athletic department. Without them, our season would not be possible. We'd also like to thank the Pirate coaches and athletes for allowing us to work alongside of them and bring you the Pirate sports you love so much!

Last but certainly not least, we'd like to thank Pirate Nation for their support and patronage to our program. Your passion for Pirate athletics is what fuels our broadcasting program. Without your viewership, our hard work would mean nothing. It is truly an honor to serve our community in such an impactful way!

Finally, let's talk about some of our big moments from this season! Pirate Pride Productions broadcasted a total of 76 events this season and saw a viewership total of 6,942 views and an average of 91 views per event. Our highest streamed event was the Varsity Boys Basketball game against Fowler on February 4th with a total of 327 viewers. Other big events included the Varsity Boys Basketball games against Laingsburg (144 views) and Grand Blanc (175 views), the Junior Varsity Boys Basketball game against Fowler (136 views), the Varsity Girls Basketball game against Fowler (120 views), both Varsity Girls Basketball district games against Delton-Kellogg (125 views) and GR NorthPointe (175 views), and the Class of 2025 graduation ceremony (256 views). We were also proud to bring the Game of the Year between the Pirates and Cougars to the NFHS Network once again this season!

One final notable event from the year was our field trip to FanDuel Sports Network in Southfield. Our student crew was able to tour the studio, speak with some of their top on-air studio talents and production personnel, and get a behind-the-scenes look at the broadcast of a Detroit Red Wings road game, including their pre-game show! We'd like to thank FanDuel Sports Network for allowing us to experience broadcasting on a regional level!

As we move ahead into the 2025-2026 broadcasting season, our priority is set on renewing sponsorships, recruiting students to join our crew, and preparing for the fall sports portion of our broadcasting season. This includes continuing to solve the problems that impaired our football broadcasts last season. We will keep you posted on that progress as it comes along.

Thanks for another excellent season, Pirate Nation! We appreciate your support and look forward to serving you again next season! Onward Pirates!!

Congratulations to all of the graduates who walked the stage tonight and recieved their high school diploma! In specific, we'd like to congratulate Mr. Brandt Beech and thank him for everything he has done to make Pirate Pride Productions function over his 5 years with the program. Beechie joined us as a little eighth-grader and has made a gigantic impact on our program, doing everything from camera to computer to announcing and so much more! We can't wait to see what Mr. Beech can do in his college years at Central Michigan, and we wish him good luck in his future adventures. Thank you Beechie, and Onward Pirates!!

Tonight's Pewamo-Westphalia Girls Softball doubleheader against Fowler will not be streamed due to technical difficulties. NFHS is looking into it and we will have the problem solved before graduation next week. Sorry for the inconvenience. Onward Pirates!
