Memorial Day, falls on the last Monday in May, The Women of Oklahoma reflect and honor those women and men who have sacrificed and died while serving in the military.

We are forever grateful for their sacrifice and may their courage and dedication never be forgotten.

Whether you are flying the flag, visiting memorials, placing flowers at cemeteries or choosing to gather with family and friends this weekend, remember to be safe as we honor the fallen!

Happy Oklahoma Day! Oklahoma Day is held on April 22nd, it is a local observance and not a public holiday. Oklahoma Day observes the history and culture of the state.

According to Wikipedia, “The state's name is derived from the Choctaw words okla, 'people' and humma, which translates as 'red'.
Oklahoma is also known informally by its nickname, "The Sooner State", in reference to the settlers who staked their claims on land before the official opening date of lands in the western Oklahoma Territory or before the Indian Appropriations Act of 1889, which increased European-American settlement in the eastern Indian Territory.
Oklahoma Territory and Indian Territory were merged into the State of Oklahoma when it became the 46th state to enter the union on November 16, 1907.”

President Abraham Lincoln declared Thanksgiving a national holiday in 1863, and he encouraged Americans to recognize the last Thursday of November as “a day of Thanksgiving.”

This celebration has become commonplace in today's household, while watching football games, the Macy’s Day parade and enjoying classic traditional dishes with family and friends.

However you choose to celebrate,
Thanksgiving is the perfect time to pause, reflect, and give thanks for everything!
