⚡ SIGNAL CHECK⚡A US spy chief landed in Moscow. Nobody announced it.
CIA Director John Ratcliffe was in Moscow on Tuesday — his first known trip to Russia as director. Washington never put it on a schedule. Public flight-tracking caught a US government transport plane leaving Joint Base Andrews for the Russian capital.
The Kremlin confirmed “talks between the intelligence services,” said no meeting with Putin was planned, and that Putin was briefed afterward. Neither side will say what was discussed.
Then Bloomberg reported the part that set the internet on fire: a growing number of Russian officials believe Putin could eventually reach for a tactical nuclear weapon as a last resort in Ukraine — because the only outcome worse than continuing this war, for him, would be losing it.

⬜ NOT ESTABLISHED — any order, any target, any timeline, any warhead movement. Bloomberg’s own reporting notes there is no indication Russia is preparing to use these weapons.
And the brakes are real. Beijing has publicly opposed the use of — or threats to use — nuclear weapons in Ukraine, and it’s Russia’s biggest customer. New Delhi keeps buying Russian energy while pressing publicly for dialogue over escalation. Crossing that line wouldn’t just escalate against Ukraine and the West — it would burn the last diplomatic ground Russia is standing on.
Also worth knowing: “tactical” is a lie of scale. It describes the range, not the damage. The top of that class is several Hiroshimas.
Escalation talk is a weapon too. The fear does work long before anything is fired.
