✨Check out this month’s Wheaton Living Magazine! 🏡✨
Meet Seraphina, a lively 10-year-old in 4th grade who loves swimming, coloring, and finds art class calming. “My favorite movie is ‘Inside Out 2’ because it helps me understand my emotions,” she shares.
✨April is Autism Acceptance Month✨
Bella, Seraphina’s mom, explains that autism is a neurological disorder on a broad spectrum. “Seraphina is level three and needs the most assistance,” she says, addressing misconceptions about autism. “She’s not a bad kid; she may just be overwhelmed and unsure of how to express her emotions or vocalize what she needs,” Bella said.
Bella praises Wheaton for its supportive community, stating, “Every teacher and student has been welcoming and understanding. We also enrolled her in behavioral therapy at West Side Children’s, which has greatly improved her social skills.”
The Barry family has faced challenges together, but Bella now feels more comfortable navigating social situations. She hopes for greater acceptance of individuals with autism, urging others to educate themselves.
🌟Join the Barry family in advocating for understanding and celebrating Seraphina’s unique journey 💫👏
