A journey to memory lane...
I wrote my first song in 1997, I gave it a title: “The Lifter Up” written from Psalms 3:3-5. It says that Lord you are my glory and the lifter up of my head. It was an amazing experience for me to write my first song because i remembered that about 8 years earlier, my aunt Esther and I tried to write at least one song and we were not successful in the sense that we could not remember the tune! Everyday we had to assign a new tune to this one song because only God could remember the original tune! Hahaha... have you ever had such an experience when you can’t remember the tune of your own song? It happens!
Anyhow, I later realized that writing songs is, just like many other ministry gifts, a function of grace. Grace is what makes the difference. When grace flows, you can accomplish in a very short time what you could not do in many years. I recall in the year 2000, one evening while attending a Tuesday evening service I listened to the Pastor preaching from 2 Timothy 1:6. He talked about how Paul said, this charge is for you son Timothy that you stir up the gift of God that’s in you by the laying on of hands. As soon as I heard that statement, it clicked in my spirit as a line for a song. The following day while in the office i remembered that i had a line for a song, so i decided to take a few minutes to write up that song and see what it would look like. I started to write the song and completed it within 15 minutes! The inspiration was so strong, I felt like an Angel stood behind me dictating the words, it was amazing! I called the song “Stir up the Gift”. Usually I get the words and the tune at the same time and I don’t forget it once I have written and sung it.
My 20 years journey of song writing has been a long one. To date i have written close to 50 songs and I still write more songs by the special grace of God. I can get the inspiration anytime, any where: sometimes in the plane while flying from one country to another, in the kitchen, in the office, at church while listening to a sermon, in the car, while praying... at times i forget the prayer and start writing a song that i pick up in my spirit (and continue praying later). Anyway, it is a long story... but in short, now is the time to finally launch my music ministry out where the people are. I pray that all who hear will be blessed, encouraged, inspired and strengthened in one way of another as they listen to my music. Watch out for my new Album soon to release titled “Now is the Time”. Official launch set for August 24, 2018 in Monrovia. You are all invited, if you can make it, it’s gonna be a blast! At the launch, I will tell the story of now i wrote the song: “Now is the Time” ... don’t miss out!
