Roaches, bedbugs, motels and Airbnb is why I am team Hilton Hotels!
I will never forget the 1 time I let my husband book two places on vacation and one was a motel that ended up having bed bugs and roaches which I had never seen before. We saw the roaches ASAP as I always record as I walk into a hotel/ place as I am not getting false damage charges. Luckily, we left almost all of our stuff in the car as the place looked sketchy. We saw a couple of roaches, got rid of them and then checked for bed bugs during the walk-through. I bring my lice/ bed bug spray everywhere so I always spray the beds/ furniture regardless of where I stay. I luckily didn’t see bed bugs otherwise I would have slept in the car. I would usually leave after seeing a roach but it was just so late, unsafe for us to drive, the area was sketchy so I didn’t want to sleep in the car and nothing else was nearby so we were SOL. I knew our stuff was safe from the roaches in the car. We only slept for a few hours as it was gross and we wanted to go obviously. My sister woke up to a few bed bugs in her bed. We sprayed it with the spray to make sure it works and it 💀 right away. So the spray worked but they were so deep in the mattress it didn’t reach them?!? Luckily, our bed didn’t have any. We left ASAP and checked for roaches again before we left to make sure none would sneak with us. We checked out, told them and we got refunded immediately. They even opened the free breakfast up early for us and said they wish they knew as they would of gave us a new room and refunded us.
Obviously, my husband is never allowed to book a stay without my triple check and approval ever again.
The nice thing about hotel/ motel is when this nasty stuff happens they can move you to another room or refund you.
Could you imagine spending hundreds a night on an Airbnb, traveling hours from home and you find the photos below within the first 20mins… You contact the host and they say they don’t have a pest problem and refuse to refund you 🤡 You then call Airbnb support and they are no help at all. Airbnb only refunds you if have bed bug bites and get a doctor letter I guess ?!? Now, you have to lug your kids to a hotel you hope has openings last minute and you don’t even have the refund to reimburse last minute new accommodations…
This happened to a relative of mine and is why I usually stay at hotels now. These airbnb hosts expect you to pay hotel prices, have a massive rule list, clean even though you pay a cleaning fee and the service is terrible… thoughts?
Team hotel or airbnb?
