What's black and white and read all over? We hope it's this week's Journal-Herald! Printer issues affected the reproduction of red on the pages. And what's the one color in every Christmas picture? That's right. So the choice was to print in black and white until the issue is fixed.
We have a little extra time to work on it, because we are combining the Christmas and New Year issues into one, to come out between the two holidays—look for it December 29 or 30.
Happy and healthy holidays to all!

Our digital printer developed a problem half-way through this week's run. Our mail subscriptions were processed, but we weren't able to print papers to take to stores. Service is here, but they may need to order a part. We will distribute the paper as soon as we can, but meanwhile you can download a copy to your computer or phone from our website, pocononewspapers.com.

PennDOT/BPC Announce Rolling Slowdowns for the I-80 Over Lehigh River Bridge Project in Carbon and Luzerne Counties

Allentown, PA – Motorists are advised that the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) and Bridging Pennsylvania Constructors (BPC) announces scheduled rolling slowdowns on Interstate 80 in support of the I-80 Over Lehigh River Bridge Project.

The rolling slowdowns are anticipated to occur approximately two (2) times per week to set beams adjacent to the existing I-80 eastbound bridge, between June 26th, 2025, and July 22nd, 2025, from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and will take place between mile markers 272.4 and 273.4. These operations are weather dependent and may be adjusted based on work progress.

Motorists are advised to check www.511PA.com before traveling this section of I-80 for information when slowdowns are happening. Motorists are also advised to plan for possible delays and use caution when traveling through the work zone.

This project is part of the ongoing PennDOT Major Bridges P3 Program. Bridging Pennsylvania Developers – I (BPD-I) is led jointly by Shikun & Binui Ltd and Macquarie Capital as Lead Project Developers and Equity Members. The Bridging Pennsylvania Constructors (BPC) joint venture (JV) consortium includes the design & construction expertise of S&B USA Construction (Pittsburgh, PA) and FCC Construction. S&B USA Construction is the construction arm of Shikun & Binui Ltd and is also the parent company of Fay, S&B USA Construction (Pittsburgh, PA), one of the four BPC Major Bridge subcontractors. Other Major Bridge subcontractors include the H&K Group (Skippack, PA), Kokosing Construction Company (Pittsburgh, PA), Wagman Heavy Civil (York, PA), and Lead Designer, Michael Baker International (Pittsburgh, PA).

Motorists can check conditions on major roadway miles by visiting www.511PA.com. 511PA, which is free and available 24 hours a day, provides traffic delay warnings, weather forecasts, traffic speed information, and access to more than 1,000 traffic cameras.

511PA is also available through a smartphone application for iPhone and Android devices, by calling 5-1-1, or by following regional Twitter alerts accessible on the 511PA website.
