Hello everyone, we are expecting snow this evening with highs today in the upper 120s, 1ft of rain is also expected and lows into the lower -230s. Also, make sure to check the date. 😉

A real forecast will be coming up later today. Happy April fools!

03/31/2022

Hello everyone. After multiple severe warnings last night into the early morning, we are finally clear from severe weather and temperatures are back in the 40s. We will start to warm up again into the lower 70s in a few days but we will have some more rain. Scattered showers will start to pop up later this afternoon into the evening before moving out tomorrow morning. Again, I can't rule out a few scattered showers tomorrow as we get into the latter half of the day. The day after tomorrow will be rainy again with highs in the lower 60s. This has been your TennesseeWX Forecast, have a great day and God bless. :)

133 tornado warnings and 203 severe thunderstorm warnings were issued the past 24 hours. Unbelievable. So far already 33 tornado reports.
Great work by Jack Sillin.

03/30/2022

Southerly flow has returned to the low levels as the upper ridge is sliding eastward. Temps have warmed up into the 60s and even low 70s, with moisture returning to the surface as well. The strong upper trough moving east from the Plains will take the place of the ridge tonight and tomorrow, and pave the way for our strong to severe storm threat tomorrow. The surface low and pressure gradient will tighten quite a bit tomorrow as well, giving the mid state 20 to 30 mph sustained winds and gusts to around 50 mph possible Wednesday late morning through the evening hours. Some parts of Middle Tennessee could see wind gusts over 50-70 mph, In some areas. These winds will be capable of bringing down trees and potentially causing power outages even before the showers and storms arrive in the late afternoon and evening, so definitely make preparations today to get any loose objects put somewhere safe before the strong winds arrive tomorrow morning. These winds will be stronger than what we saw in the past few weeks, and will be around from mid morning through the evening, so this afternoon and evening is the time to prep/move any items you have outside vulnerable to strong winds during the day Wednesday. CAMs have been very consistent with timing for the arrival of showers and storms, with the line of convection crossing the river around 4 pm, getting to Nashville metro around 7-8 pm, and leaving the Plateau around 1 am. CAMs are also consistent in keeping instability very low, which is very concerning for the potential for severe thunderstorms Wednesday. If the majority of CAMs are right, and we get little to no instability, very few updrafts will be able to sustain severe limits, and we will have more of an isolated severe threat. But, if we get just 200-500 J/kg of MLCAPE or more, the current SPC outlook could be expanded further, and confidence will increase in severe thunderstorm potential becoming much more widespread. Wind shear remains very strong, both deep layer shear and the lowest 1 km. Helicity values are also very strong, and would further support tornado development. Again it all depends on the instability; if we get more than anticipated, the severe risk will increase, if we get little to no instability, the severe threat decreases. Will be keeping a close eye on any additional sunshine tomorrow, warmer temperatures, or increasing dewpoints as those will all support more instability, and increase the severe threat, especially for the western half. As the forecast stands now, any strong to severe storms that develop will easily be able to put down some damaging winds, even stronger than the gradient winds during the day up to around 70 mph, and any storm rooted in the near surface layer with some instability will be able to produce tornadoes in this environment. Wind Advisory is in effect from 9am Tomorrow morning to 1 am Thursday morning. Please stay weather aware as we closely monitor this system. Have more than one way of receiving up to date weather info.....especially if any of these storms become tornado warned. Again, secure any loose objects that could be moved by these increasing gradient winds.

In case you hadn't seen, we do have a severe weather risk tomorrow. We'll have showers and a few thunderstorms in the morning, but the main threat time is 2-10 pm with additional development along the front. Damaging winds and one or two tornadoes are possible, along with 1 inch hail.

If you don't have a plan in place for shelter, now is the time to look into that, not when you go under a warning.

Hello everyone! Clouds and rain are back in the area, most of the rain will stay in southern middle Tennessee. Some storms may have some lightning but that's about it. Accumulated rain is going to total at around 0.5-1 inch but some isolated areas could reach 1.5 inches. Pretty nice temperatures across the region staying in the upper 50s to low 60s this afternoon. Have a great day!

The majority of the snow has pushed east and is still a hazard to the Cumberland Plateau. Roads across Middle Tennessee continue to be slick and ice has frozen the layers of snow. Please stay at home, if you can. We still have some lingering snow showers moving into our NW Counties and in West Tennessee, however, I don't think we'll see any major additional accumulation. After this major cold front passes we should be on a nice warming trend. Typical early spring weather for our area. Everyone please be safe and monitor local weather reports for road conditions.
