I love birding all year long, but fall will always have a special place in my heart! It’s sad to see my summer birds head south for the winter, but even more exciting to see some of my old favorites returning.

Have you ever seen a Pileated Woodpecker in the wild? 🪵🐦

4th stop: Huron Meadows Metropark!

I'm taking on the Huron-Clinton Metroparks Trail Challenge, with a goal of visiting all 14 Metroparks and sharing the incredible birding and wildlife each one has to offer.

Huron Meadows surprised me in the best way. I spotted a new lifer, found my first-ever Merlin Bird of the Day, and even spent nearly 20 minutes watching a Pileated Woodpecker, a bird that truly feels like a real-life dinosaur!

Have you ever seen this hummingbird behavior at your feeders? 🐦⚔️

I captured some of the most incredible hummingbird footage I’ve ever seen at my feeder!

I usually only catch one hummingbird visiting at a time, so seeing two of them interacting like this was SO cool to watch. And these two were at it for HOURS!

Just another reminder to slow down and pay attention to what’s happening right outside your window. You never know what you might catch!
