The Danger of Halloween Candy!

This is a crucial reminder, Triple Lake Ranch family! 🍬🍫 While a sweet treat for us humans, Halloween candy can be extremely dangerous—even fatal—for our dogs. With bowls of candy appearing in homes, it's vital to keep all of it completely out of paw's reach.

Here’s why Halloween candy poses such a threat:

- Chocolate: Contains theobromine, which is highly toxic to dogs. The darker the chocolate, the higher the concentration and the greater the danger.

- Xylitol: This artificial sweetener is found in many sugar-free candies, gums, mints, and even some baked goods. It is HIGHLY toxic to dogs, causing a rapid and severe drop in blood sugar (hypoglycemia) and potential liver failure. Even small amounts can be deadly.

- Candy Wrappers: Foil and plastic wrappers aren't digestible and can cause choking or painful intestinal blockages requiring emergency surgery.

- Raisins/Grapes: Some candies or treats might contain these, which are also toxic to dogs.

If you suspect your pet has eaten something harmful, contact your veterinarian or an emergency animal hospital immediately! Time is critical.

Costume Cautions for Canines!

Thinking of dressing up your furry friend for Halloween? 🐶 It's undeniably cute, but costume safety should always be the top priority! We want our pups to be comfortable and safe, not stressed or in danger.

Here are some important costume safety tips from Triple Lake Ranch:

Comfort is Key: Ensure the costume doesn't restrict your dog's natural movement, sight, or hearing. They should be able to walk, sit, and lie down easily.

Avoid Small, Chewable Parts: Watch out for buttons, beads, glitter, or dangling pieces that could detach and become choking hazards if chewed.

Proper Fit Matters: A costume shouldn't be too tight (causing chafing, overheating, or restricted breathing) or too loose (causing trips and falls).

Breathability: Make sure the material allows air circulation to prevent overheating, especially for long-haired breeds.

Supervise Always: Never leave your pet unattended while they're wearing a costume. It's best for short photo ops or brief supervised fun.

A Heartfelt Farewell to Sandy ❤️

Yesterday, in the early morning hours, we said goodbye to Michael’s dear mother, Sandy.

Like any mother-in-law and daughter-in-law, Sandy and I had our moments, our ups and downs. But one thing we always shared, deeply and unequivocally, was our profound love for dogs. She adored our Triple Lake Ranch puppies and welcomed two into her home – one from our Lizzy and Jack 2023 litter, and another from our Stella and Jack 2024 litter.

Sandy was a truly wonderful dog mom. She loved her furry companions fiercely and took them everywhere with her, even to doctors' visits. It's hard to imagine life without my own parents, and I simply cannot fathom the grief my sweet husband, Michael, is experiencing right now.

Michael often watches our page, and I know he would be so touched by your kindness. If each of you could take a moment to send some love, strength, and positive thoughts his way, it would mean the world to him and to our family during this incredibly difficult time.

Rest in peace, Sandy. Your love for dogs will always be a cherished memory.

A Change of Plans and Heart 💔

We know many of you were looking forward to seeing us at the dog show yesterday, and we truly apologize for not making it. Unfortunately, we were experiencing a profound loss in our family.

In light of the circumstances, I simply couldn't bring myself to put Michael through the added stress and demands of a dog show. For us, these events are a team effort, and I don't do them without him by my side. My focus needed to be entirely on supporting him and our family during this incredibly difficult time.

We understand it's disappointing for those who planned to see us, and we appreciate your understanding. We'll be back in the ring when the time is right, but for now, family comes first.
