For happy hour Friday yesterday, we took the first sneak-peek photo from the new Lantern Sound Recording Rig location here in VT.
Still 16 inputs into Logic Pro X, still a bunch of outboard mic preamps.
Now, monitoring with Genelec, Avantone, Equator, and KRK are all in one place, great for mixing. Stoked.
Outboard keyboard sounds & synths go through a sub-mixer before getting routed into the Allen & Heath console monitoring environment, where all inputs are available for monitoring. I don't record through the console mic preamps except for Talkback, or if I need a fast scratch track/DI thing on the spot.
This goes right to work. I need to cut additional vocals for a song that goes to Paradiddle Records as part of a Warren Zevon tribute release, and I've gotta mix it too. Josh LeClerc and Chris Mehos join me on that one. It will be quite different than Warren's version.
Getting the new location up and running here has been in the works... well, since we shut down operations at the old place on February 1st 2025.
Today is a big day at the new joint, though. It's finally presentable.
Keep an eye out for the "Recording Studio Storage Space Sale" coming up. There's stuff. Back near the old place.
Cheers
