Today I was originally going to post your poll results, however due to a change of plans, here are bonus Inspirational Quotes for Writers for this month! These are by the well-known C.S. Lewis.

Clive Staples Lewis' (1898-1963) work has been reread and studied repeatedly, and is considered valuable Christian literature worth learning from. He was a British literary scholar and theologian who wrote fiction and non-fiction, and is best known for his series, "The Chronicles of Narnia." His testimony of going from an atheist to a Christian is powerful, and Biblical metaphors and be found in a majority of his literature.

Our second author feature for this month is dedicated to Erin Phillips. Her work is worth exploring if you're a fantasy reader who loves female-centered stories based off of real biblical characters.

From her website:

"I am first and foremost a Christian, forgiven and redeemed by Jesus alone. He is my Savior, my King, my reason for living, and everything I do flows from that identity.

The books I write are survival guides disguised as fantasy.

Stories teach the heart to believe, and I love writing stories that shine the Light into the darkest of nights. It is my deepest prayer that my books point readers back to Jesus, even without ever saying His name, being written from a Biblical worldview and tackling faith themes through allegory and fantasy.

My most notable novels are Biblical retellings, Realm Award 2023 Fantasy Finalist A Crown of Chains (Esther) and 2024 Reader’s Choice award A Bond of Briars (Ruth), written for girls who love popular YA fiction and are looking for stories that don’t pretend life is easy, acknowledge that perfection is impossible, and offer encouragement found only in Christ.

I graduated from the University of North Carolina School of the Arts with a B.F.A. in Costume Design & Technology, and live on the east coast with my songwriting husband, Jeremy, and our happy corgis, Parker and Fable."

I wrote more for the comments section than Meta/Instagram would allow for Friday's reel about World Mental Health Day, so I'll finish what I wanted to say here!

Please get engaged in the comments if there's a certain verse or tip that helps you through seasonal depression, (if you're comfortable with publicly sharing.) If you can think of a friend who may be mentally struggling in general, don't wait a minute longer to reach out to them with some encouragement. You never know if you could be the best part of their day. 💜

This author feature at Wild Blue Wonder Press is about Josiah Degraaf. He is the first of two Christian authors we'll be covering for the month of September. His work is worth looking into if you're a fiction reader who loves medieval and supernatural themes!

From his website:

He loves crafting fantastical stories about characters who face the same dilemmas we do when we try to do the right thing. He works as the program director of The Young Writer’s Workshop and as a featured editor for Lorehaven. These Inspirational Quotes for Writers are inspired by Virginia Woolf.

Adeline Virginia Woolf was a pioneering and experimental essayist. Her debut novel "Mrs. Dalloway," published 1925, is about an upper-class woman in post- World War One England. She published numerous other works until her death in 1941 and is known for utilizing "stream of consciousness" narration.

Who doesn't like a warm drink with a book on their, cuddled up next to a fire on a rainy day... okay, maybe it's not that cold yet! (At least not from where I'm writing this in the Pacific Northwest. 😁)

It's these more cloudy and chilly days that motivate me the most to read, however. My ideal "reading place" is on my couch with my cat and a blanket.

For this review of your poll results, I asked everyone:

1) What are your writing goals for this fall?

and

2) What is a Bible verse that inspires you to write?

We found that this autumn doesn't seem to be a time for many of you to rest and reflect on your work, but rather continue on preexisting projects. A fair amount of you agreed that you look to the books of Psalms and Proverbs for writing encouragement, however a significant amount of you said that you haven't given much thought to what your favorite verse pertaining to writing is.

If any of you were wondering, my favorite verse is John 8:32 which says, "And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free." As you can probably guess, this verse can apply to my entire life, not only when is comes to writing.

Most of you have been following for at least a few months, if not more, which is great! I've been doing my best to cater to that 15% of you who forgot you followed this account altogether as well as take time to create posts that encourage honest discussions about the challenges of Christian writing. Keep recommending this account to your friends!
