Sept. 22, 2026 is the AUTUMNAL EQUINOX!
The Autumnal Equinox in September ushers in a change of season. It is observed annually when the sun can be seen directly overhead along the equator. The day marks the end of summer and beginning of fall in the Northern Hemisphere.

The autumn equinox is one of two days when all points on Earth except the polar regions see the sunrise and set at due east and due west. With few exceptions, all latitudes see almost precisely 12 hours of daylight and 12 of darkness.

From the City of White Settlement:

Maintenance work is underway this week on the pond at Veterans Park. These efforts will improve pond access for fishing activities and will also make the area easier to maintain for parks staff.

Overgrowth mitigation can also help improve water flow and reduce the accumulation of trash and litter. If you see staff members working in the area please keep a safe distance from the equipment.

Nathan Claspell has loved firefighting since he was a young kid, so you can imagine his excitement when NAS JRB Fire Department Capt. Todd Williams and Lion Apparel surprised him with his very own firefighter gear!

Nathan celebrated this special day with his peers at the WSISD Center for Transition Services, proudly showing off his new gear and living out a childhood dream.
