THEY CALL IT THE “PEACE ACT.”

If Oregon Initiative Petition 28 makes the ballot and passes, it could fundamentally change life for farmers, ranchers, hunters, anglers, dog breeders, veterinarians, and anyone involved in food production.

Supporters call it the “PEACE Act.”

But the proposal goes far beyond animal cruelty laws.

It would criminalize many activities that have been legal and accepted for generations, including livestock production, hunting, fishing, animal husbandry, breeding, and other forms of sustainable use that provide food and support rural communities.

This is not speculation.

Last week, supporters submitted approximately 120,000 signatures. If enough are verified by the Oregon Secretary of State, this measure could appear on Oregon’s November ballot.

Whether you live in Oregon or not, this matters.

What happens in one state rarely stays in one state. Ballot initiatives like this often become templates for similar efforts across the country.

Before you vote, before you share an opinion, read the proposal for yourself.

Understand what it does.

Understand who it affects.

And understand the consequences for wildlife management, food production, rural communities, and the future of modern conservation.

Watch the first edition of Shepherd’s Brief and decide for yourself.

Everything starts at the ground level, in this case it’s the community. Wildlife were left unprotected for some 15 years before one family arrived to help a woman chief who wanted to break the bonds of poverty by waging award against wildlife poaching. The next step now that poaching has been curtailed over the last 10 years is bringing back species of animals that went locally extinct due to the poaching. Check out the story.

Real conservation does not begin in boardrooms or on social media. It starts on the ground, with local people and local communities. With 8.1 billion humans sharing this planet, wildlife will only survive where rural communities see real value in protecting it. That’s exactly what is happening right now in Zambia through Operation Return of the Wild, where the Zambian government is restoring Cape buffalo and puku antelope back to the Kingdom of Shikabeta. We are now at $142,000 of our $150,000 goal. Help us finish this campaign next week and become part of something bigger than ourselves — the return of wildlife, dignity, and hope to a landscape that once lost it all.

This is what failed “conservation” looks like—wildlife gone, communities left behind. It doesn’t have to be this way.

GROUP UPDATE: GOING PRIVATE TOMORROW

This Facebook group — The Real Yellowstone – Shepherds of Wildlife Community — will become private starting tomorrow.

Why?
Because from here on out, this is the frontline. The first place for real updates on the mission, the movement, and the stories we’re telling.

🎬 First heads-up?
We’re dropping a limited-edition single malt Scotch whisky in partnership with Wolfburn Distillery — The Last Keeper. A 10-year Highland dram built with purpose.

Proceeds will support rural mental health and su***de prevention through Shepherds of Wildlife Society and The Gamekeepers Welfare Trust.

No fluff. No filters.
If you want to know what’s really happening before the public hears it — this is where it starts.

You’re in. Stay tuned.

The Real Yellowstone isn't a Hollywood fantasy. It's the raw, true story of the people who live it -- and the land they're being pushed off of.
