Started working on the abutments for my bridge! They don't fit, so I'll be making some modifications. Even the single-track bridge abutments in this kit look a little big for N scale, but I'll still be able to make things work, I think. It will look better once I backfill the areas behind it on both sides, and I'll have to trim one side for the rock cliffs next to it.

This type of foam is not easily ripped apart! I had to use pliers! Lol, it's some tough stuff! Using different sizes and irregular shapes of this foam, I can do some stippling for clouds and other techniques. I also got a wet palette because I'm tired of my paints drying out! The paints on the right are for aging and weathering, and I got something new to try and lock in those colors before applying new paints, etc. With this Rust-Oleum Clear Dead Flat, it's a technique I learned about on YouTube!

Got Train mail today and it's the Just Plug Double Lamp Post street lights Value pack from Woodland Scenics . These things are tiny at only 1.5" tall the. The pigtail wire that comes off of them is just under 40" but the wire is just about the size of a horse hair! The leads off of the light hub are pretty short at only 14" long and I wish they where longer because I want the hub at the front of the layout so I can control the dimmers if I want to. I'll definitely be making my own extension cables for these. The power pack is sold separately so I'll be picking up one of those! I still think they're pretty neat though! 🚂🛤📦💡🪛🧰⚡️🔌🤠

I'm experimenting with this new device that I ordered for the layout! I'll be using the Woodland Scenics Just Plug mostly for the layout, but I wanted to try this out, and I think I'm impressed so far. This is the OONO D-1475 that I bought off of Amazon, and a 15v AC to DC adapter for up to 45w max. My understanding of electronics is still pretty basic, so I'm still learning. I can see now that I should have gone with the 24v adapter, but the LEDs are still pretty bright when I turn the little pots up to max. I've got a total of 4 LEDs on each channel and 20 total for the whole board. The dimmers work pretty good, and I'm only feeling a slight warmth on the board after running for about an hour now. It says on the manual for 10 lights only. I'm guessing they would be brighter if only using 10, but I'm happy with it being less bright if I'm using more. I really don't know what I'm doing! I only know enough to get myself into trouble! Lol. Using my Fluke meter, I'm getting 1.8 to 2.5 volts per channel! The LEDs are running parallel, so I'm guessing they are drawing the power they need for the different colors. They can run in series, but I noticed they weren't that bright hooked up that way! All in all, for $19 it looks like it's going to be a good little device for doing some additional lighting on the layout!

Nice to get deliveries on the weekend! For specific related items to the Model Railroad hobby I mostly support local hobby shops! Everything else and in between nowadays I will use Amazon. We have a distribution center in the Valley now and it is pretty convenient when you need something fast. I can get most things delivered now by the next day and that use to be unheard of in Northwest Montana. First time getting anything for the layout on a Sunday! Super Excited! 🚂🛤📦🤠

I've been working on my rack system build-out for my layout, and today's project was adapting this panel for all of my Digitrax turnout switches to fit. They only make these panels with a 24.5mm opening, so I had to file down each opening to fit the switches, at 25.4mm. So it was a little less than 1mm, so it wasn't too bad. The screw mounting holes didn't match, so I made them a snug fit and just hot-glued the back of the switches to keep them from moving. It still came out solid, and I can remove or replace a switch in the future pretty easily. Another nice thing about these panels is they swing out for maintenance. I really liked the way it turned out, and I need more switches, so I'll be ordering another one and doing the same. 🪛🧰⚡️🔌🤠
