When releasing the information about the passing of our very own Pastor Pat, we said that we would release any public information about visitations, memorials, or anything else that might happen in the remembrance of our beloved friend.

As of this evening, the arrangements have been set.

To Our Faithful KYR Family: Most people have heard the tragic news that our show's beloved Pastor Pat aka Patrick Smith passed away today while attending a music festival. It goes without saying that all of us, his family, his friends, his fans, whomever that knew Patrick, are reeling from this shocking loss. None of us have the adequate words to voice the magnitude of this terrible happening and will await confirmed developments to discover the cause of this robbing away of our friend & brother. We will share all information for any services, memorials, and such when they are finalized for the public.

If you know Pat, we ask that you remember the good times you had with him, the best way to honor him. If you are a KYR listener, we ask that you recall an instance where he made you laugh with some absurd comment or such. Either way, just cherish these things in the name and memory of Patrick Smith (R.I.P.). - KYR

So very sad to hear this! Anyone who’s been with KYR since the early days of the podcast will remember that the very first celebrity that we ever interviewed on the show was Sid. He spoke with us for over two hours about an expansive range of topics. He always remembered us when we ran into him at conventions as well.

If you are like me, I do not wear hardly anything that is not BLACK.. 100s of band T-shirts, jeans or shorts, to socks, underwear, shoes, boots, or what have you, Black, Black, Black is No. 1 in my world. However, it seems there are a lot of misconceptions, or musings, about the lifestyle of wearing blacker than black at all times... as glimpsed in the following. - Pat "Riot" Whitaker

September 10th,1984: British rock band THE CULT release their debut album, "Dreamtime", via Beggar's Banquet. While it is the first offering from the band, it is not the member's "1st rodeo" so to speak as THE CULT is in a state of evolution already, as the band has been known previously under the names Death Cult and Southern Death Cult. The familiarity with the band helps propel the album to reach the No.21 slot on the UK music charts while "Spiritwalker", the first single, reaches No.1 on the UK Indie Chart. As it would happen with later albums for the band (see the story behind 1987's "Electric" record), "Dreamtime" was originally being produced by Joe Julian, but after recording the drums, it was decided to replace him. Beggars Banquet suggested John Brand, who ultimately did produce the LP but guitarist Billy Duffy has said the drum tracks used on this record were those produced by Julian, as drummer Nigel Preston had become too unreliable.

Something of intriguing interest, and an aspect that would remain a constant for THE CULT on future songs / albums, many of the lyrics here are centered on the native peoples of several empirical nations like the U.S.A. Those to the song "Horse Nation" are taken nearly verbatim from the book 'Bury My Heart At Wounded Knee'. "Spiritwalker" is a reference to shamanism, "Dreamtime" is inspired by mythology of the Australian Aborigines, and 'Butterflies' is a reference to the Hopi Indian ceremonial butterfly dance. "Dreamtime" from THE CULT turns 35 years old today. - Pat "Riot" Whitaker
