🐾We want to share a wonderful update on Draco!

If you recall, not long ago, Draco was at risk of losing his life at the city shelter. He was critically ill, suffering from a severe upper respiratory infection, heartworm disease, and knuckling in his front paws. Thanks to your support, we pulled him from ACC and rushed him to our critical care hospital.

Today, we’re happy to share that Draco has made it out of the hospital and into the loving arms of a foster home.

His condition has improved significantly. He’s eating and drinking well, bright and alert, and finally able to rest in comfort. While in the hospital, Draco underwent an echocardiogram which confirmed the presence of heartworms—but the burden is low, and there is no sign of pulmonary hypertension. This is the best possible outcome given his diagnosis.

Draco will remain on doxycycline and prednisone for the next month, and he’ll continue antibiotics until it’s time for his next dose of Heartgard.

This sweet boy was not an easy case, but our community showed up for him and because of you, Draco now has a real second chance.

Thank you for believing in him, and in us.

We want to share an update with you on Tiny.
Just days ago we asked for your help and saving a dog in critical condition. Tiny was lying in agony on a cold shelter floor, his face torn open and his leg shredded down to the bone. The shelter couldn’t save him, but because of you, Tiny got his second chance.

We rushed him to a specialty hospital, where the orthopedic surgeon at VSGA assessed the extent of his injuries. Initially, it seemed hopeless; we feared the leg would need to be amputated. But after careful examination and X-rays, the surgeon made a bold and compassionate decision: Tiny’s leg could be saved, but only with intensive daily care, bandage changes, and time.

His wounds were cleaned and debrided, and his healing journey began.

After a few days in critical care, Tiny was stable enough to be transferred into the loving hands of Dr. Terry and her extraordinary team. Dr. Terry greeted Tiny with open arms, and they even shared a gentle nose-to-nose moment. It was the kind of moment that reminds us exactly why we fight so hard.

This once forgotten soul, discarded and left to suffer, is now surrounded by love and hope. He’s not just a patient now; he’s part of a family—a community of people who believe in second chances.

Tiny will remain under Dr. Terry’s care for the next two months, receiving the daily wound care and support he needs to fully recover.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for helping us rewrite Tiny’s story. ❤️ Please continue supporting Tiny’s journey and sharing his story so others may join us.

There are no words strong enough to fully express the gratitude we feel right now. Because of your support Sugar Belle is alive.

In a disturbing case of cruelty, six-month-old Sugar Belle was left to die, abandoned at a construction site in Mississippi covered in hundreds of ticks, starving and suffering from mange. People walked past her everyday. They saw her and they kept going. What struck us as the most disturbing was that a chain was wrapped around her neck, a haunting reminder that she was once owned.

With your help, we rushed her to a critical care hospital and gave her the fighting chance she never had before.

Doctors worked tirelessly to remove hundreds of engorged ticks from her ears, face, and body. The bath she was in was colored red from all the blood. She’s been dewormed, treated for fleas, and started on powerful IV antibiotics. She’s receiving daily medicated baths to help soothe her burning, infected skin.

Bloodwork confirmed she’s anemic, but thankfully, not yet at the point of needing a transfusion. Her medical team will continue monitoring her PCV levels over the next 48 hours. She’ll remain hospitalized until she’s strong enough to safely move into foster care.

Through it all, every poke, every treatment, every bath, Sugar Belle is showing us that she knows. she’s safe. She knows she’s not invisible anymore. Her eyes are no longer full of defeat they are full of trust.

Sugar Belle’s journey is far from over. Her skin will take weeks, maybe months to repair. But we are committed to her every step of the way.

💔We want to share an update on Batman with you. The last 48 hours have been full of ups and downs, and it’s been hard to put into words all the things that have gone wrong and some of the things that have gone right.

Batman remains in critical condition at a 24-hour specialty hospital; today, he took a small step forward in what’s been an uphill battle.

Before we stepped in, Batman’s family did everything in their power to save him. Over the last three months, they spent more than $10,000 on hospitalizations. Despite their efforts, no one could determine what was wrong, and their resources were completely exhausted.

When he arrived at the hospital, Batman’s body was so frail and deteriorated that the specialist assumed he was 15 years old, not the 2-year-old he truly is.

Under normal circumstances, doctors would’ve started with non-invasive GI testing and food trials. But Batman was too sick. There was no time to wait. His condition required immediate and aggressive intervention.

He was prepped for an endoscopy, but before it could begin, his glucose crashed, and he had to be stabilized and placed on a sepsis protocol.

Today, his doctors were finally able to wean him off glucose support and move forward with the procedure. What they found was deeply concerning: Batman’s stomach was severely inflamed and thickened, with ulcerations and visible mucosal damage. Biopsies were taken, and we’re now awaiting results. In the meantime, treatment has been ramped up with GI-protective medications.

Batman is not out of the woods and he is still fighting, and we’re fighting beside him.

Please keep Batman in your thoughts and prayers
and if you’re able, help us continue his care.

💔Her name is Sugar Belle and she’s only six months old.

The look in her eyes says it all: despair, abandonment, and quiet defeat. A heavy chain hangs around her neck; a haunting reminder that she was once someone’s pet. Now, she’s just another discarded soul left to suffer alone.

Sugar Belle’s tiny body is ravaged. Hundreds of ticks crawl across her skin, latching onto her ears, legs, and face, feeding on her blood and weakening her already fragile frame. She is also battling severe mange, leaving her with weeping sores, painful infections, and patches of raw, exposed skin.

It is truly shocking that she’s still alive.

We received a call for help from a rescuer in Mississippi about a young dog who had been dumped at a construction site. Local workers reported seeing her for weeks, covered in mud, lying in the dirt, but no one ever stopped to help.

Mange, caused by microscopic mites, eats away at the skin barrier, leaving dogs vulnerable to secondary infections, pain, and even sepsis if untreated. Combine that with an overwhelming tick and flea infestation, resulting in systemic illness, anemia, and a rapid decline in health.

How many people walked past Sugar Belle, deciding she wasn’t their problem?

We have rushed her to a 24-hour critical care hospital, where her condition is being stabilized. Her recovery will be long and costly. Sugar Belle requires IV fluids, powerful antibiotics, intensive skin treatment, parasite control, and possibly even blood transfusions due to severe anemia.

Please help us save her.
