Last night we honored our photography editor Charlie Clark as she won the silver award for “Best Still Photograph”. Charlie has attended 85 different sporting events this school year to capture all of our athletes stories! She has really put the RP first and we are excited to see what she continues to do for the RP!

Despite finishing fourth in the WIAC standings, the UW-Whitewater softball team hopes its season is far from over heading into the conference tournament in Oshkosh.

“As we enter the postseason, our main goal is to continue to fight and take it one game at a time,” senior first baseman Taylor Koehler said. “We have never had a season like this before, but what defines us most is our ability to fight.”

The challenge this season has seemed to be consistency. The team has struggled to string together hits with runners in scoring positions, leaving opportunities on the field. That has become a focal point heading into the postseason, where situation ex*****on often determines the outcome.”

The final notes of senior year often echo louder than any halftime performance, and for Ian Curless, those notes carry memories of leadership, friendship, and a passion for music that shaped his college experience.

“I hope that I can show people it’s possible to do a lot of things and be a strong leader within those communities,” Curless said. “I was in a ton of ensembles and a few student orgs and was able to help push them to be better. I want people to continue that tradition of student leadership that makes real change.”

Through this act of impacting the music community, Curless was able to showcase that while leadership may take a long time to perfect, he was able to efficiently help the ensembles grow stronger. That impact shows how great a teacher he can be.”

As the WIAC season came to a close, the Warhawks have remained undefeated in conference play, the first time a WIAC team has done that since 1995. The season ended with a 4 game sweep on Senior Day.

“Coach Vodenlich spoke on the success of the senior Warhawks, saying that they should be proud of what they’ve done for this program, and how far they have all come as people and baseball players.

“They are part of the most successful parts of our program,” Vodenlich said. “That says a lot because we have had some really good teams in the past. I think they’ve also been a part of one of the most successful runs of Warhawk baseball history. So they have that to hang on to and be proud of.”

With a $90,000 funding boost and a record number of student projects, undergraduate research at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater is expanding in both scale and ambition during the 2025–26 academic year.

“I think universities primarily have two functions,” senior Ian Cooper said. “One is to teach people and educate them. The second is research. �And I think you can’t do either of them well without the other. If you don’t have a passionate campus base of people who are going out of their way and learning more than the classes, then I don’t think you’re gonna produce the most productive students out of it. So to have that campus community of self learners and motivated people, I think research needs that funding.”

Jer’Von Anderson continues to beat personal bests and has remained strong. He might be track and field’s hidden gem.

“High jump isn’t necessarily something that is easy, especially when you’re doing it at such a high level as collegiate track and field,” Anderson said. “I just want to keep myself grounded and keep working hard.”

Keeping himself grounded, however, is not something Anderson can do in a literal sense. When he takes off, he continues to clear heights no other Warhawk has reached this season, a reflection of both his talent and rapid development.”
