One week ago, after 5 years of continuous training, assisting with kids classes, and balancing her training with an insanely rigorous soccer schedule, we had the honor of promoting Miss Charlotte to Junior Black Belt in front of an audience of her friends, family, and some highly respected Black Belts at The Boston TEA Party.

As expected, Charlotte did an amazing job both at her test, and a demonstration of her skills for her friends and family, and we couldn't be more proud of her!

We have no doubt that Charlotte will be a life long Kenpoist, and we look forward to the day that we get to promote her to her adult First Degree. 🙌

As both a high level Kenpo Black Back Belt and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Black Belt, David Todd's seminars bring something special to the mat that you are unlikely to find anywhere else.

Brittany brings a very unique perspective to the TEA Party, with knowledge and skills gained over her entire lifetime emersed in Kenpo in a way that only the daughter of a Senior Master could be.

Besides the lessons that she has learned from her father, Brittany trained extensively with many of the black belt instructors at the Green Street school where she herself also taught and helped run the studio. These experiences give her not only a deep understanding of the Art, but also the business of Kenpo, which she now applies while Forging her path in the Art while giving back to the Kenpo community.

We have been fortunate to spend time with Brittany and have some awesome conversations with her, and we are really excited for others here on the east coast to get to do the same! 🤙

Every year The Boston TEA Party has a unique theme that changes slightly from event to event, and we try to choose those themes based on the feedback we get from participants.

But what never changes, is our commitment to bring out some of the best instructors in Kenpo, and provide an unrivaled experience for the particpants and instructors alike.

In keeping with last year's theme of filling in gaps that exist within the Kenpo curriculum (last year's theme being weapon defense), at this year's 𝘽𝙤𝙨𝙩𝙤𝙣 𝙏𝙀𝘼 𝙋𝙖𝙧𝙩𝙮 - 𝙂𝙧𝙤𝙪𝙣𝙙𝙚𝙙, we turn to the ground to address Kenpo based solutions for the "what if" of losing our footing. But rather than simply throwing some BJJ into our Kenpo, we will be joined by David Todd and Ken Brayman, two awesome high level instructors who specialize not only in Kenpo and ground fighting, but those critical moments between the two that determine where the fight is going, and how it is going to get there. Their unique perspectives and experiences will make these seminars unlike any you have attended before.

And of course, in addition to these theme based semimars, we will be joined by someone with their own unique perspective and experience of Kenpo, Brittany Tatum. Having grown up the daughter of Senior Master Larry Tatum, and experiencing Kenpo in an emersive way that only the child of a Senior Master could, Brittany is a wealth of insight and knowledge that we very much look forward to learning from. Sunday morning training session in NYC! 👊

In a city that has, until now, had basically no American Kenpo, Joe Stricklett has this great spot that he has opened to private and small group training sessions...and it's pretty awesome!

It is always great to be able to train in an environment that facilitates great conversation and the sharing of great ideas. And it doesn't hurt when that happens somewhere that also has awesome coffee shops and bakeries around. 😏

This group makes the drive from Mass well worth it, and I appreciate them opening their session to others!

And, I was finally able to sneak a picture of the woman behind the camera! A big thank you to Ruby, as always, for the awesome shots that she gets for us!

𝗣𝗮𝗿𝘁𝘆 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟱 - 𝙂𝙧𝙤𝙪𝙣𝙙𝙚𝙙

Every year there is a theme, and every year there is an amazing lineup of instructors, and this year is no different!

This year will be host to 4 awesome instructors, each with their own specialty, and own very unique perspective of the Art!

Brittany Tatum - 4th degree - Brittany holds an extremely unique perspective of Kenpo, having grown up the daughter of Grandmaster Larry Tatum, and being emersed in the Art in a way that only she could experience.

David Todd - Kenpo 5th degree, BJJ Blackbelt - A highly skilled practitioner of both Arts, David has a way of addressing threats in a way that very few ever consider. Dave's seminars will change the way you view self defense, and leave you with new useful tools to add to your training.

Ken Brayman - Krav Maga 5th degree, Kenpo 3rd Degree - Founder of Shield Krav Maga, Ken's culmination of experience and skill gained from years of working with Military and Law Enforcement, in Executive Protection, and running one of the most comprehensive self defense curriculums in the world, makes his seminars truly unique and informative.

David Pantano - Kenpo 8th Degree, Krav Maga Blackbelt - David's dynamic teaching style, combined with his extensive experience in teaching both civilians and Military/Law Enforcement, give him an amazing reputation as an instructor in the Self Defense community, widely known for his seminars and training camps.

Running the same format as the 2024 edition of the TEA Party, this year's event will take place May 2-4.

These kids are awesome, and we want to Congratulate them on their recent promotions!

These three have been working on the adult curriculum, and and they are on track to becoming amazing young adult Black Belts🙌

When we can read an attack, the option of canceling depth may be more beneficial than trying to block the strike itself.

Canceling the opponent's depth can greatly reduce the effective power of their strike, requiring less blocking force from us, and immediately giving us greater control over the space we are both occupying.
