🎒📚 Welcome back, Whitman-Hanson!

As students, teachers, faculty and staff across the Whitman-Hanson Regional School District begin a new school year, all of us at WHCA wish you a great year ahead!

We’re also excited about everything there will be to see, celebrate and share from our schools this year.

Through WHCA’s Educational Access Partnership, we work with students, families, educators and the broader school community to help bring school stories, events, activities and creative ideas to a wider audience.

Have something happening at your school that deserves the spotlight? Have an idea for a video or program, but aren’t quite sure how to make it happen? Reach out to WHCA. We can help you think through the idea, explore what’s possible, and find a way to bring it to life.

From performances and special events to student projects, classroom initiatives and ideas we haven’t even thought of yet, we can’t wait to see what the 2026–2027 school year brings!

As we get ready for Back to School season we are wrapping up another chapter with summer interns like Tyler here who just completed our (WHCA.tv) "Production Crew Experience" . Tyler was able to align his WHCA Production Crew Experience with a for credit Internship from University of Rhode Island. This photo shows Tyler accepting his 'Certificate of Completion' for Whitman Hanson Community Access's Production I'mCrew Experience. Not only do we congratulate him, but we also welcome other interested students (or anyone who wants to learn through a structured experience) to visit our website, learn more, and even apply for an upcoming cohort.

A new chapter for community media in Whitman & Hanson.

With new Access Grant Agreements now approved by the Whitman Select Board last night and the Hanson Select Board on August 11, WHCA is excited to continue our longstanding partnership with both communities and build upon more than two decades of local media, government transparency, community programming, education and public access.

We’re grateful to both Towns, their Select Boards, administrators and counsel for their work through the renewal process, and especially thankful for the continued trust placed in WHCA to serve the people of Whitman and Hanson.

As we begin this next chapter, it’s also a fitting time to look back at how we got here. WHCA’s History page traces more than two decades of local cable access and the evolution of the regional partnership that serves Whitman and Hanson today:

📣 MA residents: Please consider contacting your State Senator in support of legislation to modernize community media funding.

Earlier this month, the House version of this effort attracted bipartisan support from 118 Massachusetts Representatives, and similar legislation is now before the Senate.

Earlier this summer, the Whitman Select Board unanimously adopted a resolution supporting this legislation, recognizing the important role community media plays in government transparency, civic engagement, and local programming.

Our colleagues at Athol-Orange Community Television put together this excellent behind-the-scenes look at the advocacy effort. We encourage you to take a minute to watch and learn why this legislation matters to communities like Whitman and Hanson.
