💡THE MORE YOU KNOW: Fentanyl Awareness Can Save a Life

Today is National Fentanyl Prevention and Awareness Day, a reminder that one decision involving an unknown or counterfeit pill can have deadly consequences.

Fentanyl is a powerful synthetic opioid. Illicit fentanyl is often mixed into counterfeit pills and other illegal drugs - and you can’t see, smell or taste it. A pill made to look like a legitimate prescription medication may contain a potentially lethal amount of fentanyl.

🔹Know the facts. Never take pills that weren’t prescribed to you and obtained from a licensed pharmacy.

🔹Know the signs. An opioid overdose can cause slow or stopped breathing, extreme sleepiness, pinpoint pupils and an inability to wake.

🔹Know what to do. Call 911 immediately if you suspect an overdose. Naxolone can temporarily reverse an opioid overdose and may save a life.

Talk to your kids, teens, friends and family. A simple conversation about counterfeit pills and fentanyl could prevent a tragedy.

The more you know, the better prepared you are to protect yourself and the people you love.
