He brought love, encouragement and joy to our city. We all are in loss of a great great man.

It’s with heavy hearts and raised glasses that we say goodbye to our co founder, Danny Ahern.

Originally from Co. Tipperary, Ireland, Danny came to Wichita Falls, Texas at the age of 18 to make a life for himself in our town and in the process, he improved the lives of countless others.

Through perseverance, vision, and likely a bit of the luck o’ the Irish, he ended up spearheading the development and evolution of a downtown revitalization that will outlive him for generations.

His vision for the creation of the Iron Horse Pub didn’t stop at our doors, but expanded with vigor through Downtown Wichita Falls Development, Inc. and into the larger community of Wichita Falls. We don’t quite know how to express our thanks for the experiences and moments he gave us all.

As so many of us experienced, Danny never met a stranger. Everyone he encountered was a long series of new friends that he often had a pivotal, life changing impact on. His time on this earth was too short, but his impact will last longer than most of us could ever hope for.

This is a tough time for us here at the Iron Horse Pub, and we know that is a sentiment shared by all whose lives Danny touched.

Please take a moment this week to say a prayer, raise a glass, help a friend, have a vision, and do what you can to make your world and your community a better place.

Thanks for being there for us all, brother. We are better for having known you.
