Today we are honoring the life and legacy of Dusty Hill (May 19, 1949 – July 28, 2021), bassist, vocalist, and heart of ZZ Top for over five decades.

From his roots in Dallas to the powerhouse trio that became a blues‑rock legend, Dusty’s unmistakable basslines—especially that iconic “Blues Shuffle in C”—formed the enduring foundation of ZZ Top’s groove . His simple yet powerful style meshed seamlessly with Frank Beard’s drums and Billy Gibbons’ guitar, creating a sound that defined generations of rock fans .

Dusty’s influence extended well beyond ZZ Top: he appeared on Back to the Future Part III, Deadwood, and even voiced himself on King of the Hill—a nod to his Texas roots and unflinching rock spirit .

✨ Let’s celebrate the man who made ZZ Top rock with soul, swagger, and timeless attitude. Rock on, Dusty.

I promise Walter has ears, he just isn't keen on showing them to the camera! He's a little nervous to be at the shelter, but a few sweet words, some cookies, and some petting is all it takes to get him to warm up. He will be looking for his forever home soon!
