Erin becomes a Category 5 hurricane, considered a catastrophic hurricane on the Saffir Simpson Hurricane Wind Scale. Maximum sustained winds near 160 mph have been reported by hurricane hunters and the pressure has dropped from 982mb on Sunday evening to 917mb currently.

The good news this storm will remain over open water before turning northward on Sunday and is expected to lose strength through the week. It will not affect the Bahamas or U.S. East Coast, other than high surf and dangerous rip currents.

The Wichita Police Department announced Friday evening it took Gauge Brasher, 19, into custody shortly after 4 p.m. in the 3100 block of E. Range Rd.

The suspect accused of being the driver in a hit-and-run accident Wednesday that killed a 14-year-old boy at Harry and Rock Road in Wichita is now in police custody.
