Congratulations to our Executive Director for this deserved recognition.
🟣 What has been your career path?
My career path has been deeply rooted in the belief that language is power and representation matters. I began in radio over two decades ago, using my voice to inform and connect Spanish-speaking audiences in Kansas. That experience led me to launch Planeta Venus, a bilingual media platform dedicated to elevating Latino voices through journalism, radio, and community engagement. Recognizing the communication gaps between institutions and the Latino community, I founded AB&C Bilingual Resources to bridge those divides. What started as a translation and media consulting service quickly evolved into a full-fledged bilingual marketing agency. We specialize in culturally relevant storytelling, transcreation, and community-centered campaigns that not only speak the language but also reflect the values, concerns, and aspirations of Latino families.
🟣 Who are your mentors and how have they influenced your career? My mentors have come from different corners of my life, some formal, others unexpected — but all have shaped the way I lead, communicate, and serve.
🟣 Best advice for a woman wanting to enter your field? Your voice, culture, and perspective are not only valuable — they are essential. Don’t shrink to fit into industry norms that were never built with you in mind. Instead, create space for the stories and communities you care about. Find mentors and collaborators who respect your voice, and don’t be afraid to launch your own platform or business if the doors you’re knocking on stay closed. I started AB&C Bilingual Resources because I saw a gap in how institutions were communicating with Latino communities. If the seat isn’t at the table, bring your own chair—or make a new table.
