Remembering Guitar Slim (Eddie Jones) on the day of his birth.

A New Orleans blues guitarist in the 1940s and 1950s, best known for the million-selling song "The Things That I Used to Do", produced by Johnny Vincent for Specialty Records. It is listed in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's 500 Songs That Shaped Rock and Roll. Slim had a major impact on rock and roll and experimented with distorted overtones on the electric guitar a full decade before Jimi Hendrix. R.I.P.

HAPPY 32nd BIRTHDAY Teyana Taylor, recording artist, actress, dancer, and model from Harlem.

In 2007, Taylor signed a record deal with American musician Pharrell Williams' Star Trak Entertainment imprint, before making her first national appearance on MTV's My Super Sweet 16. In 2012, she signed to Kanye West's GOOD Music label through Def Jam, after asking for her release from Star Trak. As an aspiring songwriter, Taylor has worked with and written records for artists such as Usher, Chris Brown, and Omarion. Taylor has appeared on runways during Fashion Week and has also landed high-profile features, such as on Kanye Westโ€™s My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy. She stars in the VH1 reality television show Teyana and Iman, alongside her husband, NBA player Iman Shumpert.

Remembering Jessica Cleaves, on the day of her birth.

A singer and songwriter, Cleaves was lead singer for The Friends of Distinction in the late 1960s and early 1970s. The Friends of Distinction was founded by Harry Elston and Floyd Butler, and beside Cleaves, it included Barbara Jean Love (plus Charlene Gibson, who replaced Love during her pregnancy).

During the 1970s, Cleaves performed and recorded with Earth, Wind & Fire. She later moved to Detroit where she joined forces with George Clinton and Parliament-Funkadelic for several recordings, including Computer Games, R&B Skeletons in the Closet and Dope Dogs R.I.P

Remembering Michael Clarke Duncan on the day of his birth.

An actor, best known for his breakout role as John Coffey in The Green Mile, for which he was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor and various similar honors.

He also appeared in motion pictures such as Armageddon, The Whole Nine Yards, The Scorpion King, Daredevil and Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby. His voice can be heard in films such as Brother Bear, Kung Fu Panda and Green Lantern. R.I.P.

Remembering Redd Foxx (John Elroy Sanford) on the day of his birth, stand-up comedian and actor, best remembered for his explicit comedy records and his starring role on the 1970s sitcom Sanford and Son. Foxx gained notoriety with his raunchy nightclub acts during the 1950s and 1960s. Known as the "King of the Party Records", he performed on more than 50 records in his lifetime. He also starred in Sanford, The Redd Foxx Show and The Royal Family. His film projects included All the Fine Young Cannibals, Cotton Comes to Harlem, Norman... Is That You? and Harlem Nights. R.I.P
