Just some of the eats and drinks from my weekend in OKC. Never knew why I never ventured there before but I’ll definitely be back. Not a bad destination for under 3 hrs of traveling.

What’s a chicken sandwich? Breaded chicken between a bun with a few pickles and some sauce and that’s lunch right? I’ve had the pleasure of eating a few chicken sandwiches in my day but I must say that changed yesterday.
My partner and I went to OKC for the weekend to simply enjoy each other’s company and explore. The weekend was a fun one, and a nice reset. On our way back we wanted to stop for a bite to eat, and under the recommendation from a server we had the night before we hit up . As we found seating at the bar a quick glance around the place and you would see a see of people and smiling faces.
They had the QR code menus, controversial but I like them. We looked over the menu and what catches both of our eyes was the chicken biscuit. It spoke to me, told me that I needed it in my life…and it was right. As we sat my partners breakfast burrito came out first. This thing was massive and loaded up with breakfast goodies. Not long after my plate made its in person debut to me.
Upon first glance I notice cheese, pickle, and diced jalapeño. The chicken is a dark golden brown, my eyebrows raise. The biscuit had a golden brown top and looked fluffy af. The smell was intoxicating and my mouth began to water, I knew it was time for the first bite.
I picked up the sandwich and went all the way in on the first mouthful. After swallowing the food I could only simply mumble “oh my God”. Take your fondest childhood mix that with sunshine and you got this chicken sandwich. The burst of flavor from the chicken covered my tastebuds with happiness. Not only was the batter seasoned but the chicken itself was. It was crispy and crunchy on the outside and juicy on the inside. The biscuit had honey butter spread on the inside, which made for a breakup of spice. For the first time in a long time I heard love songs in my head all from a chicken sandwich.
So if you find yourself in OKC stop by the diner and do your mouth a flavor.

Though fall weather has not yet kicked in yet, I thought I’d kickstart it myself. Went to to try the pumpkin beer they have on tap. It was delicious and refreshing, definitely fall in a glass. Also ordered the Cajun bacon ranch pizza and loved the Cajun taste of it! False fall may be here for a while but I’m gonna start fall on my own terms, and those terms have a beer clause.

Was driving around when I saw a sign that said “$1 tacos” on the corner of 21st and Jackson. I had to make like Trina and pull over. The tacos were flavorful and filling. Asada and Al Pastor are my go-to’s and they had plenty of toppings to choose from so I went a little crazy. The lesson of the day is you may be busy in life, but you’re never too busy for a dollar taco.

False fall struck again as I was prepared to have pho today, but the weather decided to weather and that plan was cancelled. But I still wanted to hit up Little Saigon anyway and went with the sautéed beef and egg roll. Served up with a side of krabby goonies I was still happily satisfied.

It’s time for a change. In 2017 I created the idea that is now known as taste the screen. I wanted to set myself apart from other creators, other photographers by displaying what I thought beauty was, art was, and what I was truly passionate about, which was food. It was all done by accident much like all good things in life. I’ve laughed. I’ve cried. I’ve had many different emotions and feelings going through this journey, and I’ll be forever grateful for those times. Four years ago, I reached out to a local artist and he designed my very first logo. I was so excited and so pumped for it. I fell in love with that immediately, even got it tattooed on me, so I will never forget. The time has come for me to elevate, not only myself, but my look. So I reached back out to that same artist to create another special piece. When taste the screen started I was just a kid well not a kid, a 20 something emo teenager who never thought a simple post or a simple picture would take her to where she is now. I have grown up and it’s time that my logo grew with me. So I am proud to introduce to you the new taste of the screen, but don’t worry the logo is changing, but I’m still gonna be serving up photogenic deliciousness beyond your dreams.

Taste The Screen, “Where flavor meets pixels.”

Shout out to .art for the logo design.
