Did you know Derby was originally called El Paso, KS?

Happy Birthday to Derby, which was formally founded on this day in 1871! Fun fact: Originally the city was known as El Paso but the mail for El Paso, Kansas and El Paso, Texas kept getting mixed up. To solve this problem, the railroad depot was named Derby and gradually the name caught on with residents.

The town was formally incorporated on June 1, 1903, but the name was never officially changed to Derby until 1956. No matter what the name is, we’re happy to celebrate this growing city!

Here's your Monday Metro Market Snapshot~

Residential listings in the Wichita Metro dropped last week by 208 units, a 19% decrease. New listings were down slightly by 73 units, a 26% decrease.

Units with price changes were down 36%, units withdrawn decreased 25%, and expireds jumped by 350% (40 units).

Homes going under contract last week fell 41% (101 units), and closings were up slightly by 6% despite the holiday falling on a business day.

Hope everyone had a great weekend! Here's your Monday Metro Market Snapshot~

New residential listings in the Wichita Metro ticked up by 138 units over prior week, a bit higher jump than we have been seeing. New listings were down slightly by just 7 units.

The number of units with price changes increased 22% over prior week. Units going under contract jumped 26% and closings were up by 24%.
