Dr. Micah Kubic, the Executive Director of ACLU of Kansas, speaking at "Freedom Palooza", an event organized by Leading Kansas. In the event, candidates running to represent Kansas at the federal level spoke. One of the seats is for US Representative of the 4th District, the other is for a US Senate seat, and the other position is for Governor of Kansas. The event took place at the Wave in Wichita last July 17. So, it is important that you KNOW YOUR RIGHTS! Election Day in Kansas is August 4th. Here is the list of candidates running for the open positions, not everyone gets to vote on every race. If you are a Registered Voter in Kansas, take a look at your CERTIFICATE OF REGISTRATION, in there you will see in what districts you belong and in which districts can you vote----- En Kansas, el Dia de las Elecciones es el 4 de agosto. Breaking News: Today, the District Court of Douglas County granted a temporary injunction blocking Senate Bill 4, the 2025 law that eliminated Kansas's three-day grace period for mail ballots postmarked by Election Day. The statewide injunction immediately restores the grace period that Kansas has used since 2017, ensuring that mail ballots postmarked on or before Election Day will be counted if received within three days.

From the Plaintiffs: Today's ruling affirms a crucial principle: Kansas voters who follow every rule must never lose their ability to participate in elections due to postal delays beyond their control. We are grateful that the court recognized the overwhelming, undisputed evidence that Senate Bill 4 would arbitrarily disenfranchise thousands of our neighbors, and acted to protect Kansans' fundamental right to vote while this litigation continues.
We will continue fighting to block Senate Bill 4 permanently.

Join us this coming Friday, July 24th to hear from guest, Molly McFerson, director and CEO of Wichita Art Museum.

A Derby native and graduate of Derby High School, McFerson began her museum career 25 years ago at the Dallas Museum of Art after earning a master’s degree in art history from the University of Kansas. She later held roles at the Nasher Sculpture Center in Dallas and the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York before returning to Kansas and teaching at Derby High School from 2016 to 2022. She returned to art museum education in 2022 as the Director of Learning, Engagement, and Partnerships at WAM. In that role, she launched the popular WAM Nights series, renovated the interactive family-friendly space called PLAY, and created the Regional Creatives Exhibition Series in partnership with Harvester Arts to showcase local artists. McFerson was appointed Director/CEO in October 2024 and is thrilled to continue to strengthen the Museum’s role as a vibrant and vital piece of Wichita’s cultural landscape.
