Part 2 of 2 with Jason Kuhn.
We break down why some artists aren’t busy right now while others are slammed—and why this isn’t the tattoo apocalypse. We talk about building a name by hustling your ass off, the tricks we’ve learned along the way, and the sacrifices it actually takes. Why are some artists about to get left behind? We get into all of it.

We also cover tattoo critiques, using AI (and the lessons learned—plus where it becomes too much), Good Time Charlie and his hand-poke style, and once again the cloud vs. rotary debate and the controversy around it. I share the first tattoo I ever got in high school, we vent about the frustrations of being on the board (thankfully with help), and a whole lot more.

Last week we had Jason Kuhn on for part one of two podcast. We had a great time since we have been friends for almost 20 years. Teaser we talked about double dongs lol. 😂 so don’t miss it.

In this episode, we sit down with Jason Kuhn. Things get a little out of focus here and there, but that’s part of the fun. We joke about Jason sneaking aroun...

In this episode, we sit down with the one and only Alex Garcia — world-traveling tattooer, convention veteran, and certified “I hate airports” champion. We dive into the grind behind the glam: the endless cycle of pack, unpack, repeat, why traveling the world isn’t as fun as Instagram makes it look, and how Alex manages to stay sharp as both an artist and a businessman.

He breaks down how he’s securing his future while the rest of us old dogs were out here pretending the IRS wasn’t watching 😂.

And of course, it wouldn’t be ICT INK without some wild stories — from old ladies building full-on s*x rooms (yes… really) to witches trying to throw curses on the shop.

This one’s hilarious, and real as hell. Tune in

Episode 5

Part One with Ellie from Squid Ink 🖤
In this first part of a two-part conversation, I sit down with Ellie from Squid Ink and start things off by owning my own bumbling recording mistakes before we dive deep into tattoo life, growth, and the realities of the industry.

We talk about how artists truly improve by surrounding themselves with other artists, getting out of their comfort zones, networking, and taking advantage of the resources we already have to create better work. I also open up about being on the Board of Cosmetology—how much work it really is and how unprepared I was for the workload that comes with it.

Ellie and I get into the importance of trainers being held accountable for properly teaching their students, while still acknowledging that apprenticeships remain one of the best tools artists have. We also touch on tattooing as both an art and business, the value of tough love, and how many of the best artists were pushed to grow—even when it was uncomfortable.

Along the way, Ellie watches (and talks a little s**t on 😅) Ink Master, I admit I can’t watch it anymore, and we shout out the amazing Deana James and the importance of surrounding yourself with people who push you to improve. We joke about artists wearing headphones (just kidding… mostly), reminisce about the old days of tattooing and partying, and wrap things up with Ellie admitting she’s basically 80 years old at heart and prefers staying home over going out drinking.

This episode is honest, funny, and full of real talk about tattooing, growth, and the culture that comes with it.

Welcome to ICT INK — the podcast where tattoos, art, and real talk come together.

I started tattooing young, in some of the toughest spots and around the wildest crowds. This podcast is my way of sharing that story — and giving my fellow artists and friends a space to tell theirs too.

We’ll talk tattoos, art, life, and probably bulls**t about whatever comes up. Some conversations will hit deep, some will just make you laugh — but all of them are real.

ICT INK is focused on the tattoo community of Wichita and all of Kansas, as well as the amazing artists who travel here to work. I’m also reaching out to painters, photographers, casters, and all kinds of creators doing their thing.

This page is off to a slow start, but it’s going to be a fun ride once we get rolling. Thanks for being here from the beginning — I appreciate every one of you.

🎙️ Welcome to ICT INK. Let’s tell our stories.
