Wilder could become the first Idaho city to ban Flock license plate reader cameras after local resident and DeFlock Idaho founder Tyler Cain submitted a petition with enough verified signatures to require City Council consideration. Law enforcement agencies say they support the technology because it can help identify suspect vehicles, recover stolen cars, investigate crimes and locate missing people.

Critics warn that the cameras can enable warrantless surveillance by recording vehicles’ locations and creating searchable databases of civilians’ travel patterns, raising concerns about Fourth Amendment protections against unreasonable searches. Concerns have also grown following cases involving inaccurate Flock data, wrongful arrests and officers misusing the system for personal searches. If the City Council rejects the proposed ordinance, Wilder voters will decide on the ban in the November 2027 election.

Actress Hayden Panettiere died Sunday after being found unresponsive and in cardiac arrest at a residence in Greenville, South Carolina. She was 36 year old, just a few days away from her 37th birthday. An autopsy found no signs of trauma, while her official cause and manner of death remain under investigation.

Hayden will be remembered as a talented actress, mother and passionate animal advocate who worked to protect dolphins, whales and other wildlife. From playing the coach’s football loving daughter in Remember the Titans to her roles in Ice Princess, Heroes, Nashville, Bring it On, Scream, Raising Helen and A Bug’s Life, she inspired generations.

In her recent memoir, This Is Me: A Reckoning, Hayden courageously opened up about the dark side of Hollywood, the grooming she experienced and the lasting trauma she carried. Our thoughts and prayers are with her daughter, family and loved ones. May she rest in peace. 🕊️

Idaho State Police Trooper Steve McClain is being recognized as a hero after becoming the first person to return fire at the attacker during the deadly Twin Falls In-N-Out shooting. McClain was off duty at the time and was inside the restaurant when the attacker began firing from outside near the drive-thru window. Despite being off duty, McClain moved to protect employees and customers and returned fire, confronting the threat as people inside scrambled for safety. Idaho State Police officials later praised his training, experience and courage, along with his willingness to place himself in danger to protect others. Shortly after, armed civilian Jordan Salinas also stepped up outside the restaurant and returned fire at the attacker, helping force him away from the building.

Their courage stands as a powerful reminder of the brave souls who ran toward danger and helped others when they were needed most. In the aftermath of such a devastating tragedy, their actions have also become an inspiring example of courage, preparedness and selflessness in the face of danger. McClain has said he simply did what he believed needed to be done and has directed attention toward the victims, their families and the Twin Falls community. Our thoughts and prayers remain with those who lost loved ones, the injured, first responders and everyone affected by the tragedy.

Officials have identified the three victims killed in the August 1st attack at the Twin Falls In-N-Out Burger. They are Ashley Garibay, 23, of Stockton, California; Christopher Claunch, 59, of Santa Clarita, California; and Dale Schultz, 66, of Salt Lake City, Utah. Authorities also identified the attacker as Chad Williams, 24, of Waddell, Arizona, who died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound at the scene. The victims and survivors came from different backgrounds and different parts of the country, yet their lives intersected in Twin Falls on one tragic afternoon.

The shooting left seven others injured. Among the survivors publicly identified by relatives or friends are Dale Schultz’s wife, Reinette Schultz, who remains hospitalized in critical condition after undergoing multiple reconstructive surgeries; Austin “A.J.” Scott James, who suffered severe injuries after moving toward the gunfire in an effort to stop the attacker; taxi driver Terry Dudley; and Steven Pixley, who was struck in the arm while riding his motorcycle nearby. An off duty Idaho State Police trooper and armed civilian Jordan Salinas also returned fire, helping divert the attacker away from the restaurant. As officials continue their investigation, the Twin Falls community remains focused on remembering those lost, supporting the injured and helping everyone affected.

Officials identified the three victims killed in the August 1st attack at the Twin Falls In-N-Out as Ashley Garibay 23 of Stockton California, Christopher Claunch 59 of Santa Clarita California, and Dale Schultz 66 of Salt Lake City Utah. Authorities also identified the attacker as Chad Williams 24 of Waddell Arizona. Their paths began in different communities but tragically converged in Twin Falls Idaho that day. The community continues to mourn alongside the victims’ families and support for the survivors whose lives were forever changed.

Jordan Salinas is speaking publicly after returning fire during the deadly shooting at the Twin Falls In-N-Out Burger. Salinas said he saw people fleeing and heard gunfire before responding to the attacker. An off duty Idaho State Police trooper also engaged the gunman, and Twin Falls Police praised both men for helping divert the attacker away from the restaurant and potentially preventing further loss of life.

Salinas, a 35 year old from Kimberly Idaho, is a healthcare worker and the full time caregiver for his brother, who uses a wheelchair. He said he trained with fi****ms so he would be prepared to protect his brother and others during an emergency. Following the attack, Salinas thanked his family, friends and supporters for their messages, prayers and encouragement. He said the experience had been overwhelming and that he plans to share a fuller account when he is ready. For now, Salinas said his thoughts remain with the victims, their families and everyone affected by the tragedy.
