March Air Reserve Base — A motorist involved in a two-vehicle collision Tuesday morning near March Air Reserve Base was found suffering from a fatal gunshot wound.

The collision was reported at approximately 8:12 a.m. at the intersection of Z Street and 2nd Street, just east of the air base, according to the California Highway Patrol and Riverside County Sheriff's Department.

Authorities said jurisdiction over the investigation was divided between the two agencies, with CHP officers investigating the traffic collision and sheriff's deputies handling the circumstances surrounding the shooting.

The deceased has been identified as a contractor with the American Forces Network, a Department of Defense-operated broadcasting service that provides radio and television programming to U.S. military personnel, civilian employees and their families stationed overseas.

The condition of the other driver was not immediately available.

RIVERSIDE COUNTY - Box Truck Driver Transported After Extensive Extrication Crash On The Freeway.

A box truck driver was rescued after becoming trapped during a traffic collision with an Amazon semi-truck on Interstate 215 in Thursday afternoon.

The crash was reported on June 18, 2026, shortly after 1 p.m. along the northbound Interstate 215, just north of Harley Knox Boulevard. Responding personnel from the California Highway Patrol and Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department arrived to find a box truck with major damage after rear-ending an Amazon semi-truck.
The impact caused the box truck to become lodged partially underneath the rear of the semi-truck, trapping the driver inside the cab. Due to the severity of the incident, the Battalion Chief immediately requested two heavy-duty rotator tow trucks and a second American Medical Response ambulance.

The driver of the Amazon semi-truck was transported to a local hospital with injuries of an unknown extent. Firefighters initiated an extensive extrication operation to free the trapped box truck driver. Crews utilized a grip-hoist cable system in an effort to separate the vehicles and create enough space to access the victim. Once the heavy-duty rotator trucks arrived, they were attached to both vehicles and carefully pulled them apart, allowing rescuers to remove the driver from the damaged cab.
The box truck driver was transported to a local hospital with moderate injuries.

The extrication operation lasted approximately 80 minutes. A Sig Alert was issued for around two hours and only one lane remained open during the operation, causing major delays on the Northbound 215. The cause of the collision remains under investigation by the California Highway Patrol.

RIVERSIDE, Calif. — Five people were arrested following an investigation into an attempted home invasion robbery in Riverside, police announced.

The incident occurred on April 9, 2026, at about 8:50 p.m. in the 1500 block of Northhampton Drive. According to the Riverside Police Department, surveillance footage showed three masked men jumping over a wall into a homeowner's backyard before attempting to enter the residence.

Investigators said the suspects wore clothing that concealed their identities and allegedly used a Wi-Fi jammer to disrupt the home's security cameras as they approached. The homeowner was inside the residence at the time, causing the suspects to flee before gaining entry.

Detectives assigned to the Property Crimes Unit later identified several individuals connected to the vehicle used during the attempted home invasion. On May 27, detectives, assisted by the department's Problem-Oriented Policing Team, located the suspect vehicle in Los Angeles.

Four men believed to be involved in the crime were arrested along with a woman who allegedly had multiple outstanding warrants out of Florida. Police said the four male suspects initially claimed to be from Argentina and provided false identification cards. Investigators later determined the men were residents of Chile.

The suspects were identified as Mauricio Gil-Parra, 30; Ignacio Fernandez-Aliste, 28; Jose Molina-Lagos, 30; Luis Arcila-Alcaino, 29; and Maria Elizondo-Zuniga, 38, of Mexico.

All five were booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center on multiple charges and are being held with bail enhancements totaling $500,000.

Anyone with information regarding the case is encouraged to contact Riverside Police Detective Devin Duran at (951) 533-8830 or [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected]). Anonymous tips can also be submitted through the Riverside Police Department's Atlas 1 mobile app.
