Carrie Underwood is officially returning to Wildwood Beach as the first headliner announced for Barefoot Country Music Fest 2027.

The festival will run June 17 through June 20 in Wildwood, New Jersey, with more than 40 artists expected across multiple stages.

Underwood previously performed at the festival in 2021, when heavy rain from Tropical Storm Henri failed to stop her set or the thousands of fans who stayed to watch. More headliners and performers will be announced as the 2027 lineup continues to take shape.

Carrie Underwood’s return gives Barefoot Country Music Fest a major opening name as another summer of country music on the beach begins to take shape.

Purchase a foam pumpkin, carve it at home with your best fun, creative and kid-friendly design, then donate your finished pumpkin to the Fire Company! Local stores that have the 12”-13” hollow foam pumpkins are Walmart, Hobby Lobby and Michael’s.

All donated foam pumpkins will be displayed as part of our Not-So-Spooky Hayride decorations for many years to come! 👻🎃

As a result of H.R. 1, the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, new work requirements have been in effect for SNAP recipients since March 2026.

Many individuals who were previously exempted from work requirements must now work 20 hours per week and provide adequate documentation, in order to keep receiving SNAP benefits. These individuals include:

• able-bodied adults without dependents aged 55-64
• able-bodied adults with dependents 14+ years old
• veterans
• people experiencing homelessness
• 18-24 years olds who have aged out of foster care

Work requirements can be fulfilled through volunteering and community service. For an unpaid, volunteer activity to count toward your work requirement, the unpaid work activity:

• must not take place in your own home.
• must benefit the community OR a member of the community who does not reside with you.
• must be verified with a specific form.

In Ohio, that specific form is called JFS-07410. This form must be completed by the SNAP participant and the person/agency you are providing unpaid services for. Form JFS-07410 is available here:https://co.summitoh.net/files-generic/24569/file/jfs-07410.pdf

North Wildwood Police Investigate Fatal Drowning

On September 17th, 2026, at approximately 2:09 pm, the North Wildwood Police Department, North Wildwood Fire Department and North Wildwood Beach Patrol responded to the area of 2nd Avenue and the Beach for a swimmer in distress.

Upon arrival, multiple surfers had entered the water and located an unconscious male victim. North Wildwood Fire Department personnel and North Wildwood Beach Patrol arrived on scene and immediately began lifesaving efforts.

The victim was transported to Cooper University Hospital Cape Regional, where he was pronounced deceased. The North Wildwood Police Department Detective Bureau has identified the victim as Ahmet Yimenici (21) from Turkey. At this time, the incident does not appear to involve foul play.

“Our hearts go out to Mr. Yimenici’s family during this incredibly difficult time. I also want to recognize the quick actions of the surfers and civilians on scene. Their willingness to act without hesitation gave this young man the best possible chance, and we’re grateful for their courage,” said Chief Katherine Madden.

The public is reminded to swim in areas where lifeguards are present and on duty within the City of North Wildwood.
