A significant new detail has emerged in the murders of Rob Reiner and Michele Singer Reiner.

Rob, Michele, and their son Nick attended Conan O’Brien’s Christmas party on Saturday night, just hours before the murders. According to reports, Rob and Nick were involved in a very loud, heated argument at the party, loud enough that multiple people in attendance could hear it.

Family sources say Rob and Michele left the party following the argument. It is unclear whether Nick left at the same time.

In the months leading up to their deaths, Michele had reportedly confided to friends that she and Rob were at their breaking point, struggling to help their son amid ongoing mental health and substance abuse issues. She allegedly told friends, “We’ve tried everything.”

Rob and Michele were found dead the following day inside their Los Angeles home, both having suffered fatal knife injuries. Their son, Nick Reiner, has since been arrested, formally booked for murder, and is being held on $4 million bail.

This remains an active and deeply disturbing case.

Rob Reiner and his wife, Michele Singer Reiner, were killed by their son, according to People magazine.

People, citing multiple sources, identified Nick Reiner as the alleged perpetrator in the killing of his 78-year-old father and 68-year-old mother.

Nick, according to a 2016 People story, battled substance abuse for years. He said in the report that he was homeless for long periods of time.

Nick is being questioned by police, but no arrests have been announced.
