Today was a huge milestone for petunias recovery. Her temp is back to a normal range, so I brought her out of the quarantine/birthing pen to graze. She spent the majority of the day eating grass and laying contently in the sun. ☀️

We still have about 2- 3 weeks to go til her due date, and the vet recommends she stay on this antibiotic until then in a case the infection is in her reproductive tract.

I’ll be so relieved once she has these babies! Until then, I’ll continue to monitor her like a hawk. 💕

Mrs petunia has had a better day now that the antibiotics are starting to work. We are still not out of the woods, but she has not had a fever since around lunchtime so I’d say that progress!

I felt babies kicking this morning so I’m so happy to see that they are still doing ok. I may not know what is causing her infection, but thankful for a fast acting vet who was able to get meds to me quickly.

Hagrid kept petunia company today while she snuggled down in the goat shelter. She ended up running a small fever so I reached out to the vet. As many labor like symptoms she showed, they could also have been symptoms of a fever/infection. So we erred on the side of caution, and have started her on a pregnancy safe antibiotic. The kids and I also moved her down to the birthing pen as a precautionary just in case she is still technically in pre labor.

I’ll check on her again at bed time to make sure she’s good 😊

Having 7 piglets in one area can be challenging at times. Especially if it’s treat time and training. Maple got a few good sits in this evening before getting distracted by Sophia. 😂 while Re*****on had to remind me a few times that he was sitting so so patiently, even after he got all his treats. And what a distinguished gentleman he was too! 😍

Mrs Ginger did not rotate back into heat this week, so looks like we will be planning on adding her to our birthing rost...

Mrs Ginger did not rotate back into heat this week, so looks like we will be planning on adding her to our birthing roster at the end of January. This will be her first season with Huckleberry and I cannot wait to see what they come up with!

I have been checking petunia pretty religiously since we brought her home 8 weeks ago since I knew she had been exposed to the same boar paisley was at her old farm. Today I am 99.99999% confident I felt very tiny kicks inside her belly. I mean it could be gas, but I’ll take the baby option 😂😍. That gives us roughly 6 weeks to go! I really am hoping she is a sweet mama this round. She still snaps at Sophia, but lets Paisley’s piglets do everything without so much as a snort in their direction.

She is such a sweet girl 💕

We had some very spicy little babies this morning! Maple and Charlie were especially excited to see me and wanted to make sure I didn’t have any treats hiding on my person. This group LOVES banana peels as treats! So much so that now they hope I have some every time they see me 😂.

Best friends forever! Delilah our Nubian Doeling and Snow our Nigerian dwarf doeling are inseparable! Delilah is the cool calm and collected friend, while snows the basket case 🤣🤣🤣
