This past weekend Beth Lammers, Ashley Boske, Britney Love, and Mandy Samson took their West Clermont High School & Middle School Competition Cheer Squads to the Lebanon Spear-It Challenge.
WCHS Game Day squad received 1st place, while the WCHS Traditional Squad received 2nd, but also winning the “Best Tumbling” award for the day!
WCMS took home 1st place and Most Entertaining for their Game Day routine. They also received 2nd place for their Traditional squad, along with winning the Jump Off & Tuck Off awards!
West Clermont High School competition squads are looking forward to their next competition at Centerville on Sunday, January 8th.

📣 The West Clermont High School Competition Cheer squad crushed it in their first competition of the season at the UCA Hoosier Regionals!
The Game Day squad received Zero deductions and placed 2nd. The Traditional squad competed and received a 1st place trophy and a banner to be displayed at the school.
The squad has now qualified to compete in Disney World at the National High School Cheerleading Championship (NHSCC) at the ESPN Wide World of Sports.
The squad is currently hosting several fundraisers to help make their way to Disney. Make sure to follow along as they strive to write their names in the history books!

Local issues really drove voters to the polls this election.
Unofficial results show 79,627 ballots were cast, which is a 54.71 percent voter turnout.
Nov. 8 was Election Day, and voters across Clermont County turned out to cast their ballots in Congressional and Statehouse races, as well as state and local issues.

The West Clermont High School Marching Band closed the 2022 competition season by placing third in the Mid-States Band Association Class 5A Championships held at William Mason High School on Saturday, November 5. The color guard’s performance that evening earned the highest score in program history, and percussion finished in second place overall.

Yesterday evening, as Editor of The Sun, I was honored to speak at Clermont County's 20th annual candlelight vigil to remember those lost to suicide over the previous year. I shared my own struggles with depression and suicidal thoughts. You may need headphones because the phone recording the event is far away from where we are speaking, but nonetheless, I hope anyone that takes the time to listen to my speech, it helps them.
In this week's paper, we have a feature story on the Bethel-Tate High School drumline and their new drums! On Aug. 12, they held a dedication ceremony and performed for the crowd. The first routine is A.D.M., or acoustic dance music, and the second is the school fight song.

Yesterday at Mercy Clermont Hospital, Charlie and Grace Bailey retired after 40 years of volunteer service and were celebrated by the hospital. The couple also recently celebrated 75 years of marriage. Here is Charlie, 99, talking to Mercy about volunteering. It can be hard to hear because of side chatter, but at one point, Charlie says to those thinking about volunteering, "I would say, go ahead, I think that's good, it'll not only help you here, but it will help you when you die. Our blessed Lord will say, 'What did you do with your time?' And it'll say, 'I volunteered at the hospital.'" Video content courtesy of Mercy.
The 172nd Clermont County Fair kicked off on July 25 with the annual Stonelick Township Firefighters Association Parade, complete with firetrucks, CNE cheerleaders and Shriners Hospitals for Children, among others!
