Experience the profound legacy of The Last Poets with their new release, "Africanism"!!

Abiodun Oyewole and Umar Bin Hassan revisit and re-energize some of their seminal works such as "When The Revolution Comes", "Gash Man" and "Ni***rs Are Scared of Revolution", infusing them with fresh and potent new soundscapes. Joining the Poets are the late, great Tony Allen (Fela Kuti) - laying the album's foundations with legendary Afrobeat rhythms - Egypt 80 guitarist and bassist Akinola Adio Oyebola and Kunle Justice, jazz keyboardist Kaidi Tatham (dubbed as 'The UK's Herbie Hancock') and saxophonist Courtney Pine.

"Africanism" is the result of vibrant live sessions in Brooklyn and London, recorded and mixed by producer Prince Fatty. The album bridges spoken-word poetry with a bold fusion of Afrobeat and contemporary jazz, where live instruments amplify the Poets' raw and unflinching verses.

Season’s Greetings,

Snake Canyon has taken some time off after the loss of our brother and bassist Vance Garcia, and we have all started working on different musical projects since Vance's memorial show last year, but we will be reuniting to play a gig on Friday, December 13th at Lucky 13 Saloon in Brooklyn to celebrate the release of our third album “All Fall Down.”

We’d like to thank A.J. Tissian for helping record, mix, and master the album, and Lou Campagna for creating the cover art. We hope you enjoy it as much as we enjoyed creating it.

Please give it a listen!!!

We look forward to seeing our friends and family at our record release party. AJ and Grace’s band Precious Blood will be playing; as will Joe's current project, Sabbath Warlock. Local psych merchants Indigo Fuzz will start things off, and Witchforce, Tommy Von Voigt's band that includes several regular members of F*Bomb, will also be there celebrating their single release. Danny Martinez will be sitting in on bass with Snake Canyon as we play some of the songs off our new record as well as some of our classic cuts.

Vance completed work on this album shortly before he went into the hospital and it stands as a lasting testament to his amazing musicianship, love for what we did as a band, and his place in all our hearts.

Have a Happy Thanksgiving everyone, and we look forward to seeing you at the show!

Long time friend and patron of the studio, artist Sara Cwynar's new gallery show, "Baby Blue Benzo", is opening this friday, 6pm at @ 52 Walker gallery in Tribeca.

Her show will run from 10/4 - 12/21 and it is highly recommend going to check it out as her work is fantastic!!

Sara wrote, produced and directed a short film, "Baby Blue Benzo" that will be featured in her show.
